Leica 28-90 R user experiences on the SL body

I find my Leica R 35-70/4 gives me sharper images than my Leica R 28-90/2.8-4.5. Is that the expected outcome or does the 28-90 need a CLA? TIA.

It's not the expected outcome, but I don't have the 28-90 to do my own tests. Being an optimist, I'l go out one of these days to see if my 35-70/4 is a good one, too. When I compared the 21-35 R against my best M 21 and 28s, I concluded the M lenses had a slight (28) to significant (21 SEM) advantage, but I haven't stopped using the R zoom when I don't know what I will need and don't want to carry a lot of stuff with me. I would not expect the 35-70 to stand up against the Leica M 50s but as a travel lens, used mostly at 35, and then stretched when feet can't move me closer to the details, I think it makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for sharing this. I was considering the 21SEM for a while, then I got a good deal on a 24mm Summilux and this ruined:)D) my plans. Now I am considering the 18mm SEM.
