The SR-71 is one seriously sweet ride, innit?

    Absolutely.

You know, they have planes that fly faster, higher, are invisible to radar, etc, etc, etc.

But the SR-71 Blackbird just has a place in my heart. I have numerous books on it, and even managed to pick up one of the Franklin mint models.

Here is a link to the model. Not as cool as the real thing, but it sure does fit better in my living room.

I'd love a die-cast A-12 model. The SR-71 is badass, but the single-seat A-12, it just has this look about it, you know?

Speaking of die cast rides, here's what's sitting on my MOTU audio interface these days:

    Oh, to have a real Exige! I know, I'm a HUGE g33k.

I saw one of these take off at night from Richmond AFB. Leaks fuel all over the place till the skin heats up at speed. Oddly enough, that is by design. Another factoid: this aircraft was not designed by computers. Slide rules only.

Great shot Maggie of a beautiful airplane. And isn't that a unique and effective way the museum chose to display it?

They do a great job with the aircraft. I like the helicopters in Gallery 2:
