Talk Mamiya 105-210/4.5 to me pretty please :)

I do not have medium format camera but I am thinking about trying this lens on my D700 with adapter and have already tried Mamiya 120/4, 150/2.8 and 200/2.8 in this manner.

Can you please tell me more about this lens and how it performs compared to to ones I have experience with.

Wow, so you think a manually focused, slower aperture zoom would be better on your D700 than the Nikon zooms and primes available? What's the motivation? Cost?

I'm curious because I just got a m645 adapter for my Sony, but the motivation was tilt-shift. I can't imagine I'd get better performance out of any of my Mamiya glass (except for maybe the 300 2.8) than my Minolta glass.

Motivation is hapiness with results I had from other Mamiya glass that I tried on my Nikon bodies.

In what sense? Did you compare them to equivalent Nikon lenses? Was the IQ better, or just some "character" aspect of the lens?

For example, I compared the 58mm f/1.2 to the 50mm f/1.4 AF on my A700. The 1.2 isn't really useable at f/1.2 (with any repeatability, at least), so you're comparing a manually focused f/2 lens to an AF lens, and both end up being about the same sharpness. (On APS at least...FF I don't know).

But there's a slight "look" to the 1.2 that makes me keep it. Although, since the last one sold for $600, maybe I won't.

In sense that I loved the "look" they gave me.
