    DF and 300mm question??

I just got my DF and with spring upon us I am busy in the field shooting and don't have time to test shutter speeds right now.

I would appreciate any pointers on what shutter speeds you have found acceptable to avoid ghosting with the 300mm and DF body. With the Phase ADF I had terrible problems getting acceptable images. Almost anything less than 1/125 would give shutter ghosting using the p65. I saw a post where guy was getting good results down to 1/40 which was simply not possible with the adf body.

I have been really impressed with the DF in the 10 days I have been using it. A world of difference from the ADF III which had so many issues I quit using it in favor of the cambo RS.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

    Re: DF and 300mm question??

Ed, the DF is much much better than even the AFD III with the 300 APO. I agree with Guy's test. Personally I use this lens at 1/100 to be safe - or use an ND filter and use speeds longer than 1/4 sec.

Fortunately the lens' optimum aperture is f5.6, and stopping down only increases DOF.

One hint - take the tripod mount off the lens and use the camera mount. This provides more inertia for the front of the lens. You don't want it equally balanced if there is any hint of vibration, and the lens is by no means too heavy for the camera's lens mount.

Thanks for the input, I just got back from FL and while I could read I couldn't post due to an satellite internet snafu.

Guy, I tried to find that review and for the life of me couldn't locate it, I appreciate the link.

    Thanks again,
