P645/AFDIII shutter release question

Gilles L.

New member
The operation manual specifies that custom function 30 allows to trip the shutter without film loaded. If I press the shutter, I get error -no-FB, which means a digital back needs to be mounted. Does custom function 30 only applies to film, but still requires that an empty film back be mounted to work?

Is it possible to trip the shutter without a back mounted, nor a lens?

Many thanks for helping me understand the camera better.

Best, Gilles

With the AFD2 body and later (and was maybe true with the AFD1 as well), you need a back attached to trip the camera. Without a back, the camera remains in a mirror-up, shutter open mode.
