OK, OK - I admit it.

I AM A GEAR SLUT. I'm going to try to blame it on Guy and Jack first to see if that works with the wife.

I sent in a wire transfer today ... damn, had to sell nearly all of my gear. Now all I'll be left with is a back and a standard lens for the rest of my life. "Three chords and the truth" as Bono would say.

My name is Mitchell, and I will soon be demoing a Hy6 54LV, but I'm sure I will make an entirely rational decision on it. So this means I don't have a problem right?

    I love this
I teeeetered on the brink, toppled almost . . . . then I stepped back and spent $10,000 on Nikon gear.

I can't pixel peep like you guys, and I can't do those wonderful crops . . but I've been able to keep my leica glass for that rainy day, and I can still comfortably wonder what Nikon's 24mp camera will be like.

The best thing is that, for the first time in my life I realise that I am, actually, a skinflint.

Thank goodness it took me longer than the rest of you to get my slut/whore status....I still have a few sane (pre MF) years ahead of me considering I already thought my M gear was insane.

It's clear you guys have problems, fortunately I don't. I'll admit to having the occasional binge but it's not really at the problem level. I could stop buying gear anytime I want... I just don't want to yet. One of these days I will quit. Sometimes when I've gone a bit overboard I say these magic words: "NEVER AGAIN" and that seems to do the trick. For a while anyway. BTW, I've found a new connection in Hong Kong. He's got better stuff than you can get here domestically and it's cheaper. Contact me offline and I'll hook you up

Re: Screw the wishlist, we need a MF addicts HELP line!

My name is Woody Spedden and I specialize in being an entirely rational human being.

Thus it is not an issue that in the past three years I have had two DMR/R9 and all the exotic R glass:

All the Contax exotics ever built

Two M8's, two M6TTL and all the exotic M glass ever built

Nikon D2X, D2H and D300/D3 and all the great Nikon glass ever built

Hassy CWD MF DB and all the great Zeiss V glass ever built.

And now I am moving on to either an Aptus 75 or Phase P45+ to use with the Hassy V but of course now with 645 format.

And I want you to know that no matter what ever else Leica, Hassy, Zeiss, Mamiya et al bring out in the future I am now happy and won't buy any of it.

The inmates are now fully running the asylum! LOL

    Woody

Okay side note to this madness. I think it is really going to be great around here with everyone getting there new toy's and the MF forum has grown so much with all really great folks. I think there is a lot to learn and share as we start getting this engine running and i want to thank all the ones before us right now for all there wisdom and help in the MF world. The forum has a bright future and so do we as members . But the folks that have been plowing through all this us newbies are in your debt. Maybe I should rephrase that and say you put us all in debt.

Kudos to Jack and Guy for putting together a great place to hang out.

Quite a few good friends from FM days and a few other places all trying different things out at the same time ... very, very cool. Here's a virtual toast to all of the kind folks I've learned from and traded information with over the past few years. Cheers as we walk down this new path together.

    My name is Jurgen

And I am an absolute MF gear maniac . Beeing with MF and HASSELBLAD V-System for more than 30 years , I ended up with a CFV back and also a HORSEMAN SW612 PRO . I also shoot 4x5 with an ARCA-SWISS .
Although digital is saving darkroom work , I still shoot with film .
A friend of mine recently said , when shooting with film you have the frustration in the dark , shooting digital , you have it at daylight .
    Is that true ? ? ?

    Regards Jurgen

    Hi my name is Marc.

But I have gone by a many names over the ages.

Lucifer, Beelzebub, the Devil, etc.,etc., etc.

Although they are loath to admit it, I infected Guy and Jack with the plague they now spread amongst you.

Guy was a good, God fearing' lad ... it took almost 2 years of constant temptation and haranguing.

Jack still fights it, he tries to keep some balance, but he will fold and spend his family's future on soulless gear.

Reps are my unknowing agents of the "Slippery Slope to Eternal Damnation"

    Says it all really....

Thing is that even were one to suggest that we all go on a gear diet, most people with lots of gear or more importantly multiple systems have so because of work needs. A system or two for specific work requirements and maybe something for fun/personal work. It may be fair to say 'go on a diet' for personal gear but I at least have my work tools because I need them however much I hate schlepping them around!

How about from now on you guys all split up your 'stuff I actually need' from 'stuff I really don't but love to have', I'm sure it would make you all feel a lot better.

The exception of course is Marc who has more camera equipment than most Calumet's....

Yes you are the Godfather of this hell you bring upon us. I listened, I ignored and than folded like a wet noodle and now I drool. Got to love ya though. BTW Jack is toast

Ben, I have been on a gear diet for months now.

Folks here have bought many items, and many others are on the "Devil's Auction Block" as we speak.

Unfortunately, unlike a good, and wise pusher, I induldge in the drug myself. So while one thing is rolling out the back door, another is rolling in the front. Bye, bye Aptus 75s and Mamiya AFD-II and lenses, bye, bye CFV version 1, bye, bye Canon 1DMKIII and a pile of lenses, bye, bye Leica DMR/9 and lenses ... Hello Nikon D3 and D300 and a slew of lenses, Hello ZF 25, 28, 50, 100, Hello CFV-II, Hello Zeiss 350/4FE ...

    HELP!

I am a victim of my own crime

The quote is Dante Alighieri's from the Divine Comedy, not mine Guy. It is the inscription over the gate to Hell in the "Inferno" ... leading to the 9 circles of Hades.

Which circle have you decended to?

I'm at about Circle 5 ... If I get a Multi-Shot, then I'll jump directly down to level 7 ... levels 8 and 9 are reserved for when a bigger sensor hits the market.

Yes, a few 645 lenses left, and an entire RZ Pro-II system ... which I may keep if I get a Hasselblad CF/39 Multi-Shot ...

What is really difficult to explain to the wife is all the camera and lens boxes stacked in the garage ... which take up the entire 3rd stall ...
