    New Leica S2 firmware

    there is a brandnew firmware for the S2 - 1.0.0.24 in the owner area of Leica:

    Description of Changes
    1. Extending the memory card compatibility 64GB (UDMA6)
    2. Lossless DNG Compression
    3. Clipping Definition
    4. Improvement in histogram for automatic picture preview
    5. Extension of exposure time to 125s
    6. Shutter speed pre-selection in BULB mode
    7. Extension of setting options for AF/AE lock button
    8. Optimization of AF performance dynamic AF metering field width

    DNG normal about 76mb - now about 40-45mb... you save near half the space...

    form the update pdf manual:

    Compressed DNG has the following advantages:

    _ Reduction in file size from approx. 75MB -> approx. 40MB (depending on image content)
    _ More images in a sequence; around 14 images in a sequence (depending on image content)
    _ Faster storage and transfer process for tethered shooting

    I've always wondered why in bulb you couldn't just dial in the desired shutter speed (at least or all the cameras I've used).

    Actually MacOSX preview will not show the compressed DNG.
