Thierry,

Do I understand you correctly? My 45 degree 6008 prism will fit a Hy6 (without revolving adapter) with no modification? I thought the mount was different and needed to be sent to Rollei for modification.

Good news if true.

Bradley,

Nice shots. I'm getting a test drive on Hy6 and Hasselblad in July.

Thanks,

Mitchell

Ok--several members expressed interest in seeing pictures of the Hy6 itself... My wife was laughing at me taking pictures of my camera, but for you guys... :p

Product shots these are not :D, but hopefully you'll get the idea... Apologies, the rock the camera gear is placed on is red, and it throws off the perceived colour balance...

My new baby with the top down...

...and with the top up!

A peek through the viewfinder.

And a shot from the rear--ooh la laa!!

Front 3/4 from the other side. (Probably the best grip I've used ever, on any camera.)

Some time ago folks were discussing the size of the camera. Here it is next to a standard CD, which should be available and familiar to folks from just about anywhere in the world:

And another from the front. Quite remarkable for a full 6x6 camera!

And there were another set of questions around the colour of the Hy6. I don't know about you guys but I definitely see blue. In person and in these pics. Colours are true to real life. The only time I don't really see the blue is under artificial light where, tungsten, for example radiates hardly any blue! Just compare the neutral strip across the bottom of the Gretag Macbeth chart to see the "colours" of the Hy6. I've been told that all three flavours of the Hy6 are this colour. (Next time, black please!)

Enjoy,
Brad

And lastly, I think I promised Carlos some pr0n...

The entire family gathered together (left to right: Schneider Apo-Tele-Xenar 300/4, Schneider Curtagon 60/3.5, Schneider Xenotar 80/2, Schneider Tele-Xenar 180/2.8, Rollei Apogon (Schneider Longar) 1.4x, Schneider Super-Angulon 40/3.5, Zeiss Planar 110/2:

You know, they told me that when I have to buy a lens this big, I must be compensating for something! I wonder what they meant??

:toocool:

Enjoy,
Brad

It's from my Phase One / Hassy V mount. Because I purchased my Sinar back and Hy6 separately, neither seller gave me masks. I figured my Phase One Hassy V screens might work--they're 6x6 screens, but the Phase chip is slightly larger (49.1x36.8mm as opposed to 48x36mm). I just installed it today--I imagine it'll be off a bit, but we'll see (better than nothing, and that's what I shot with on Friday! Whoops!)

Any Phase dealer should have these. Let me know if you can't find any but would like one--I have a few and can send one to you if you'd like.

That's a lovely (and very expensive looking) piece of kit Brad. I hear ya on the color though I don't know why they chose that. Colorblind industrial designers?

These are traditional German design colors.
Why does it have to be black?
It least it doesn't look like anything else(Blad,Mamiya etc)
But to be honest,I would have preferred mine to be black or dark grey for that matter.
I still haven't picked mine up,maybe later this week.
Cheers,
Willem.

I think the main reason for the colour palette is that it sort of matches the eMotion-75LV.
You are stuffed with the Leaf AFi.
Too many colours!

No sorry, I have mislead here, my very fault!

The 45° prism finder IS the same as the one used on the 6008, BUT has a slight modification to fit and mount the Hy6. However, it NEEDS to be "scalloped" as seen in the shots posted by Billy, to allow rotation of the revolving adapter.

Hope it is clear.

Brad,

let me know if you wish an original one, from Sinar.

Thanks Thierry,

Any word on how long the modification would take? Does it have to go to Germany, or can it be done in the US?

Best,

Mitchell

Thanks, Mitchell. Enjoy your test drives of both systems. I don't know what kind of work you do, but I'd be interested in your impressions of both. I hope you get to spend some time with each system. More time with each system would have gotten me to my ideal solution for me far more quickly.

I had a similar thought! :)

Agreed-Black & dark grey would be just fine--as long as it's classy, discreet and neutral.

never mind the camera porn.... those are excellent industrial shots! you have more?
Thank you, Jim! That's just about it from Friday's shoot. I have a few more variations on a theme, but nothing worthy, IMHO. The last photograph in the series was the last image I shot--I was getting into the groove, the light was getting even more directional, and, you guessed it, no more battery.

I'd been having trouble charging that particular battery, so I'm pretty sure it's the battery's fault, but I'll use a fully charged battery that came with the camera next time to be sure. And yes, I'll be going back soon.

Thank you for the support, everyone.

Take care,
Brad

Brad may need to condition the battery. Drain it down to nothing until it is dead than recharge overnight. If that don't work it could be a faulty battery

Hello all,
I really enjoyed Brad's pictures with his new Hy6, since they give such a great overview of all the different lenses. You couldn't find better examples anywhere I think! I can also sooo understand his excitement, as I was in the same position: waiting about 6 years for digital and camera development to bring along something great like the Hy6. It was also an easier decision because I had a secret love affair with the Schneider/Zeiss lenses for a long while...

I opted for the Rolleiflex Hy6 because I couldn't get the parts for the analogue SINAR version together in NYC. Anyway, there is no real difference between them, so what the heck, right? (Pictures here of my camera were also posted on other sites, so you might have seen them already) :toocool:

Can't afford the 75LV, except to rent it, but will be getting the 54LV in the fall. Hope to wait it out and save to upgrade to further SINAR digital back developments in a couple of years. Anyway, I will ALWAYS still shoot film also in parallel.

Hey Thierry, by the way: if I buy the 45 prism from SINAR for my Rollei Hy6, the badge name will change to SINAR....Will SINAR charge me for another camera body as well :ROTFL:

I really hope the Hy6 community grows and grows, and that we can continue to share tips and tricks online as digital developments continue. The more the merrier as they say!
Ciao tutti,
Theodore
