Same waterfall as previous image. Not so big (30m wide x 10m high) but super photogenic from every angle.

Looks like typhoon season is almost upon us here in Shanghai, China. Took advantage of it last night shooting from a new location in the light drizzle, you can see the rain catching the last bit of orange sunlight poking through from a gap in the distance.

Used a 3mm upshift on the 150mp back, then cropped to 2:1 ratio in post.

June 2019 Kyushu Japan Trip #5
    Manaino-Falls (真名井の滝), Takachiho-gorge(高千穂峡), Miyazaki(宮崎)

This is one of very popular tourist spot in Japan. I wanted to visit and observe this beautiful scene long time and finally made it.
This is something like Tunnel View in Yosemite, most of images are with similar composition and taken from paved trekking platform. But it still make me feel good to capture my own image at this super photogenic location.

June 2019 Kyushu Japan Trip #7
Kikuchi-Gorge (菊池渓谷), Kumamoto (熊本), Japan (日本)

Water level was unusually low and I could stand in the middle of the river without my feet wet, and I was lucky to have light-beam in the morning I visited.

This is the last image from my trip to Kyushu Japan in last month.

It was my first short 3 days visit to Kyushu and I found it was very photogenic and food here was extraordinary with very reasonable price. I will visit again for sure. Also it was my first trip with IQ4150, overall, I was happy especially with super genrous shift capability. I will try frame averaging capability in next trip, hope I don't forget to reset to 16bits every time I turn on IQ4150. I have a feeling I will forget....

From February. Warm the day before, but cold enough over night. 35xl, 5-10mm back fall.

Also, before I post this for free in the Buy/Sell forum, I have an Alpa sync cord for pre-IQ4 backs. PM me if anyone wants it. This does not include the sync switch, since I can still use that. Just the type II cord.
EDIT: Cable found a new home!

Sorry, but what does this mean? Are you using the tilt adapter on the rear of the STC between STC and IQ4? Is the back in a vertical position?

STC movement oriented vertically, lowered the back 12 mm to get the top of the building in the frame. Camera square with the building, no tilt.

It was more of a test subject; not particularly artistic.

Wow, that is a blast from the past. I went to RIT in the 80s when Kodak was the leader in all things imaging (and a huge supporter of our photo and photo science program). I cannot image what the city is like today.

Carrie was at RIT at the same time but in the packaging science department. It’s hard to label Rochester with one story. Kodak, Xerox and Bausch&Lomb brought huge hits, and in many areas the infrastructure shows its age. Not to mention the ferry to/from Toronto that opened right before 9/11; talk about bad timing. There is an ominous, “Welcome to the United States” in dramatic letters down at Charlotte.

On the other hand, Wegman’s is doing fantastic along with Paychex and others. They have become the employers and sustaining force. Given all the change there, it’s a city I root for and follow with interest.

Nice Dave, but a bittersweet image for people in western NY and anyone who enjoyed the remarkable research Kodak did. I'm glad however that this is not one of the buildings Kodak destroyed; perhaps it will someday once again be the source of something wonderful. Given the remarkable transformations in Buffalo, Rochester can't be far behind
I see MCC must have added a new campus.

    Upper Cathedral Lake #1

I hiked up to Upper Cathedral Lake along John Muir Trail in Yosemite NP and camped couple nights with my son. Only 5 miles hike from trailhead but it was calm and beautiful, we didn't see any other tent, we only encountered a few hikers during our stay. My son enjoyed fishing and I enjoyed photography. You can see my son sitting and fishing on the rock in at right side of the lake. (See in cropped image)

Kinya.... that's a lot of time spent on this image. Each stack image requires a 30 second exposure that has to be doubled for shifting. I'm surprised that the clouds kept together.

Looks like a labor of love.....

    Victor,

Sorry it is a typo, it was somewhere between 6 and 10 seconds, I didn't see any problem stitching sky with it.
BTW, does anybody teach me how I can read total exposure time or number of frames in C1?

ISO50, I don't remember number of frames and don't know how I can pull # of frame data in C1... I think it was somewhere between 8 and 12...

Lucky to have a beautiful pre-sunrise clouds and perfect reflection. Taken only a few steps out from our tent.

This is a special camera. It was a gift to me in the early eighties from a famous swedish photographer (and jazz musician) - Georg Oddner (1923 - 2007). I was only 14 at the time.

    https://www.oddner.com

The website is unfortunately only in swedish but if you go into 'fotogalleri' and then 'Vietnam' - that trip was shot with this particular OM2. He travelled only with one body.

He actually started as an assistant to Richard Avedon 1950. And after that he travelled around the world for decades.

    Hoh Rainforest, Olympic NP

My first visit to Olympic NP with my good friend from Japan. It was very beautiful every place we hiked but forest scenes are chaotic and difficult to find a photogenic composition.
Fortunate to have a soft light while we were wondering around the forest.

Fortunately, I managed to capture this image just before the direct sunlight hit this scene.

Again, forest scenes are chaotic and I found more opportunities in micro landscape like this. Wet grounds and tree trunks help standing out clover leaves.

Yet, another image from Hoh Rainforest, Olympic NP. Interesting to see several big trees grow on the huge fallen tree trunks.

I know I keep uploading images from same location, Hoh Rainforest, but this is my favorite image of this series.
I promise, this is the next to last from there.

Keep 'em coming, Kinya. They're beautiful. The greens are so lush, it's amazing.

This is the last image I took at Hoh Rainforest. I needed to set up my tripod as high as possible and as close to tree trunk as possible to get this composition. I couldn't see LCD monitor to define composition. Fortunately, I could get a composition I wanted after several trial shots just before direct sun light started hitting at here.

    Second Beach, Olympic NP

I didn't get dramatic lights or colorful skies for my first couple visits to the beach. I've never seen such a huge amount of driftwoods at beach.

Converted to B&W for this image, a rare trial for me.
