    Two notes on interest Ö

Two notes on interest Ö (at least to me)

#1. Got a Visit by my friendly FedEx guy yesterday afternoon. My new Cambo RS with 35mm lens and Phase One P45+ back arrived from Capture Integration. Put everything together and itís now sitting on top of my tripod just waiting for a couple test shots (okay Iíll admit to doing a couple late yesterday). Iíve got to admit that I like this kit very much and looking forward to our trip in December to really put it to use in the South Rim and Death Valley.

#2. And on another note Ö I was a Senior Special Agent for the Federal Aviation Administrationís office of Civil Aviation Security till shortly before I retired in 2003. Iíve spent the majority of my adulthood shunning the press and everything they represent. So here I am about to sit down tomorrow morning with a reporter of a monthly newspaper (The Nugget) about to be interviewed regarding Iron Creek Photography. Iím currently experiencing an entire range of emotions ranging from stunned to excited; I need to remove ďno commentĒ from my vocabulary.

    Side note:

Iíve had several messages from folks on my Mamiya 28mm and my decision to take it off the market. First off thanks for the support and secondly for those who offered to buy it. At this point Iím still uncertain as to the sale. Iíve got two trips planned, one in December (going to the So Rim then Death Valley) and a second in late January (Northern CA to do some coastal shots as well as the Redwoods with a stop at Carmel). I should will know what I want to do with the lens after the January trip so please be patient and stay turned, the last thing I want to have is sellersí remorse.

Iíll be posting some images taken with the new kit shortly

    CONGRATULATIONS on your new system

I thought about selling my 28mm too, but didn't sell it yet! Because other than Hassy, what other AF 28mm equivalent lens could I buy even if I go Hy6? which for sure I know I will (just waiting for the right excuse)

Although for you type of photography you may not need AF or two of the same focal length lenses so selling it to buy a bigger sensor P60+ may be a good excuse

The only thing that bothers me with P60+ is there is no long exposure like with P45+

Perhaps that will change sooner than I think

(INTERVIEW) just make sure to let us know when it gets published

    Natasa

The primary purpose (at least for me) of the Mamiya 28 is to do large panoramas with minimal effort. It looks like the Cambo RS/35mm will allow me to continue and in some aspects make it even easier. Iíve done some rather large panoramas using the 28 along with the RRS pano gear and donít see the need for that with the Cambo due to the movements on the back and not the lens. The testing I did a couple weeks ago generated gorgeous images using the movements on the back; giving me the most usable image space ever.

My main misgiving on the Mamiya 28 is that thereís simply no easy way to use a filter (believe me I tried!).

P65 looks good. Iíll need to keep my hands in my pocket when I visit Ken next year in Carmel Ė yes I just let the cat out of the bag here

Iíll keep you posted on the outcome of the interview. The last time I was anywhere near the media was during the aftermath of a hijacking and crash Ė not a fun time Ė at least this time the agenda will be different.

BTW Ė still waiting for word from Arizona Highways Ö..

Congrats on the new system - look fwd to seeing some camera porn - oh, and some shots might be ok too.

On the interview - done many in my time with the same mixed feelings beforehand. Relax, have fun and I agree, "no comment" is probably not a great advertising 'hook' ;> As Natasa pointed - out do some shameless self-promotion and see if you can get us a link to the story when it comes out.
