Hasselblad Owners: What's your lens lineup ?

Hey folks,

Finally, I found (and ordered ) a nice, used, HC 100 2.2

My current lens lineup is:

HC 35, 80, 100 (to be delivered soon), 120 mm and the 50-110 mm Zoom.

My idea is to get the 50 mm also and sell the Zoom - it's such a big block. What's your opinion on this plan ? Do I need the 80 mm anymore ?

Current cam is a H4D-40. I shoot mainly Beauty & Fashion.

Thanks for your thoughts !

The zooms are really great, the 35-90 is actually better than the 35 and the 50. Also not that heavy IMO. I also use the HC50-110 quite often, it is very convenient.

Anyway my lens line-up is, 28, 80, 100, 120, 210 plus both zooms. I used to own the 300 as well, excellent lens but a focal length I rarely use (never actually).

I have grown to like the 80, very compact and quite good. It does feel a little cheaper than for instance the 100.

My most used lens is still the 100, this has grown to be my 'starting point'.

I sold the 35 and 50, IMO these were lesser lenses, I did like the 50 for its size and the way it renders. I am very tempted to get the new version which is supposed to be much better.

I am on the verge of replacing my 120 for the MkII, the first version is weak at macro distances IMO.

This is a bit of the reasoning behind my lens choices. I do product and fashion mostly.

I had the H4D40, the 28mm, 80mm, 120mmII and the 35-90mm (+HTS1.5). Now everything was stolen and I have now the H4D50, soon the H5D50, the 35-90mm and the 100mm. Now I ordered also the 24mm. I'm not sure in the tele range... maybe the 120mm again or the 150mm. I loved really the 80mm very much! Small, light and the Quality was perfect! To walk around, the 100mm is often to long, I prefered the 80mm... (Sorry for my english, Schwizerdütsch wär eifacher!;-)

I have 28, 50 II, 80, 100 and 120 II.
The 50 II has become my most used lens, followed by 100
and 80. The macro is nice but i use it more as a tele than a macro.
I wouldn't sell the 80, it is quite compact and has its place
between the 50 and 100 IMO.

Ralf

I have the 35, 80, 100, 150, and the 35-90. The 35-90 was acquired last so my 35 is redundant. My wish list includes the 24 and the 120.

H3DII-50 and 28, 35, 50, 80, 120, 150 and 300 + 1.7 and HTS1.5.
Most used, 28 and 120, but I do love the look of the 300.
Least used is the 150 for no particular reason - should get it out more!
I would like to have a look at the 24, and the 100 has always looked good (but if I got that, then the 80 and 150 would probably go - only so much space in the toy cupboard!)

I think selling the zoom for the 50mm mk2 is a good idea, the Zoom is too big and heavy, especially for handheld portrait and fashion shots, what I have seen of the 50mk2 so far it looks to be superb, great contrast and sharp everywhere with lovely colour...

I have an H4D-50 with the 35, 50-110, 80, 150, 210 and 300, plus the 1.7 extender which I use generally only with the 300. Don't use the 80 much as it's covered with the 50-110, also don't use the 150 much.

I use the 50-110 mainly, since I do more or less exclusively landscape.

Actually I should sell the 80 and 150. They're both in excellent condition if anyone's interested.

All the best.

I have the 28mm, 80mm, 150mm and the 50-110. I use my 80 LOTS, and the 150 a great deal too, the 28mm is great for when I need that look or am doing interiors. The 50-110 is a great allround zoom that I wouldnt want to be without when working in some locations...

With the afore mentioned lenses I can do just about any job that comes my way. My heart would like a 300mm and 100m f2.2 and the 24mm tempts me sorely... but business and heart have to stay separate...

Hi folks,
does anybody use old Zeiss lenses from the V-System on the H-System? Do you use the Hasselblad CF Adapter or is there a better one on market? What are the best old lenses from the V-System in combination with the new H3, H4 H5 cameras?

I use them on a H3D with the CF adapter - the 50mm, 120mm and especially the 180mm are good.
I have my doubts about the 40mm (mine is not the last version).

I have the 80, 150, and 50-110

I rent my camera and tech it as well as shoot. In my experience:

The 80 is good for location work where you are handholding the camera regularly, the f2.8 can be nice as well.

The 150 is my favorite portrait lens ever used and I use it as my go to studio lens, and location portraits. The dof at 3.2 is amazing.

The 50-110 is also good on locations where you can use a tripod, amazing for landscapes (again with tripod) or for the client that likes the 24-70 lens range and wants to prove how much of a man they are by handholding that pineapple all day.

I think in the future I would sacrifice the 80 and go for a 100, I would also be interested in the 120 macro, and 35mm wide angle. Unfortunatly I only have an H2, so the 24mm, and 35-90 would not be an option as I plan on sticking to my P45+

For what I shoot the 3 lenses I have suffice.

H3DII-39, 35mm, 100mm, 150mm 210mm

The extra length compared to the 80mm makes the 100mm perfect for groups. It is also an excellent portrait lens. Best all around lens.

But my favorite is the 150mm. Needle sharp, perfect for portraits.

My current line-up: 28mm, 35mm, 35-90mm, 50-110mm, 80mm, 150mm. I do occasionally use a Zeiss 40mm f/4 CFE IF with a CF adapter. It is a gorgeous piece of glass. Regards - Marty

Hi,
You use the CF adapter. With info the hasselblad have no screen for manual focus! Is this right?

I use them on a H3D with the CF adapter - the 50mm, 120mm and especially the 180mm are good.
I have my doubts about the 40mm (mine is not the last version).

My lineup...just a 50-110mm

After buy and sell 2 samples i found a prestine one with just 7000 shutter counts...
Super sharp, after one year it still blow me away the sharpness of this lens at f8 - f16 at all focal range even at ther corners.
I recomend the 55-100mm range for the best results
My profissional work horse its the canon 5d mark2 and 3 lens L series.
And my lover its my H3DII 39MP, i love the passion of leave home and just take one lens, one body and 2 batteries and a tripod. Nothing more, and just tried every time to be better and better with less equipement and nº os pics taken.

I arrive from a work with canon gear with 400 ou 800 pics, and with a hassy just 100 or 150....and a love every one.
After 15 years of 35mm profissional photography the Digital MF, brougt me again the passion, the waiting, the pleasure of composing and joy of picture taking....

And the 50-110mm was a pearl, e recomend every time, but of course its a big fat pearl !!! but maybe the best MFD zoom lens every made...

Sorry my english

H4D-40 with 35-90 and 150. I'm a portrait photog, so the 35-90 does all group work, the 150 is great for couples. Probably pick up a new 100 sometime soon....
