Syncing at 1/1600th with PW3

From Capture Integration's Technical Department:

This is a little published, hidden function on PW3. Certain settings are required.

The particular settings are as follows:

- Set Transmitter and Receiver to any channel above 16
- Set Receiver to HSR
- Turn off A, B, C, and D groupings on receiver

When these settings are applied, you will see an "F" appear next to the channel number. This indicates that the Pocket Wizard is ready for the high sync speed.

Keep in mind that this is for leaf shutter lenses only, and cannot be used with focal plane shutters, even with equivalent shutter speeds. This technique cannot be applied to flashes or power packs with built in Pocket Wizards, as most of the changes have to be set to the receiver.

Thanks Steve!

Nice to know----the PW III transceiver, right? Specs show 1/500th for Leaf shutter lenses, but like this better for the workaround....

Must be some secret handshake.... :D

Hey that *IS* good to know. I have a set of Pocket Wizard Plus II's, do you happen to know the max sync speed I can expect from them?

With Plus II's you can expect to get a max speed of 1/500.

The normal max sync speed of Mulitmax Pocket Wizards is 1/500. However there is a fast mode feature you can enable. Set the pocket wizard you want to use as the receiver on Receiver Mode and select Fast Mode. With this you can achieve up to 1/1000th
