From yesterdays walk in the beech woods, looking for autumn.
But not yet here in the deep south of Sweden.
A few trees here and there is in full autumn colour, but I have to wait for maybe 2 more weeks for the full colour of the woods.

    Re: Fun with MF images

First attempt at a real macro shot with the GF120/4. I'm also expecting delivery of the 45mm macro tube which might make attempting macro more interesting (should be able to fill more of the frame). This is pretty heavily cropped but the detail still holds up. Not saying it is anything special but there is a promise of better things to come as I improve my technique and sort out some lighting.

GFX50s+120/4 - on a tripod (PS. This shot was made a helluva lot easier by the use of the tilt-swivel adapter).

    Afternoon

A little more from Mosul. I think these just work better in black and white, the brightness of the sky and warm yellows betray the utter destruction to life in this ancient city.

Arcadia National Park has an area called "Sur de Monts," which used to be populated with hundreds of White Birch trees. Sadly, they have become diseased and the few remaining are in trouble.
In years past these white birch have made gorgeous images with the fall colorful foliage in the background.
The first image attached is the platform where tourists walk over the swamp to view what I just described.
The second images is of one of the few birch trees remaining, but which is unfortunately is also spotted with some type of mold

Our rose garden never fails to make us smile even in the last weeks before the arrival of the first killing frost. This rose appeared with no fanfare one morning during the march of Hurricane Michael toward he Florida coast. By the time the storm arrived in Georgia, this beautiful rose was spent and the leaves covered the ground below.

Not much room for camera gear, or time to use it, but I still managed to take the GFX50S, Canon 24mm TSE and Cambo adapter and 120mm F/4 Maco, and lightweight tripod. Here is a slightly pretentious self-portait with the F-Type taken during the trip taken with the GFX 50S and 32-64mm, my most used lens. Some 2,500 miles driven on fast French motorways, with fab food and wine along the way. We had a blast!
Hmm, you must pack VERY light to manage that trip with a woman passenger for over a week and camera gear in an F-Type convertible! I've got bigger camera bags than the F-Type boot, even assuming that you weren't packing the spare tyre and only the inflation kit (aka cell phone).

Are spare tires still a thing? I think many use run-flat tires. I got rid of mine on the little car due to the ride being rough enough and now have an inflation kit (green goo and pump).

I will be attending a print workshop next month and have been going through some old images. Scanned film image of Chapel Pond in the Adirondacks taken some years ago; I suspect it looks almost the same today.

    Re: Fun with MF images

About 5 years ago I exhibited a portfolio called 'Square Wheels,' about eccentric cars. The images were shot with a collection of elderly Rollei TLRs. But now I've figured out how to make digital images that look quite consistent with those, using a GFX with a 40 Summicron and the tilting accessory viewfinder, which is IMO lots better than the LCD monitor for shooting at chest height. So now I'm reviving the project, planning on a book with both analog and digital images.

(The 40 Corn, on GFX, just covers the sensor in 1:1 format – with what looks like a bit of vintage vignetting.)

Thanks Joe. It was raining and the fog was just skirting us. My wife of course held the umbrella. We are just flying to you neck of the woods.

[tQUOTE=Joe Colson;770211]And it was worth the wait.

    Re: Fun with MF images

I have been a huge Boston Red Sox fan my entire life; iím currently celebrating their victory last evening elevating them to the World Series against a team to be decided in the next few days.
Mookie Betts will most likely be named the MVP (most valuable player) in the American League this year
Attached is a photo that I took of him this year in a spring training game vs the Houston Astros in West Palm Beach
Hasselblad 300mm lens with a 1.7 extender mounted on a phase back.
I brought my monopod to the game to use for this image, but it was confiscated at the entrance (I retrieved it after the game).
As a result, I took this image using the rear edge of the dugout for stability, with the mirror up at 1/800 sec.

    National Elk Reserve, Jackson Hole.

We searched for Elk but to no avail ... too early I guess

This time of year they probably want to make sure what you're hunting before striking a pose.

Surprised about them taking the monopod . I photographed Spring Training for almost 10 years up in Jupiter at Roger Dean Stadium (not far from West Palm ) . Was allowed to take my 400 or even 600 on a monopod over my shoulder . Used to wait for the Red Sox game (one per season ) .....even shot a game focused only on Red Sox fans with my M gear .

    Re: Fun with MF images

As usual, you guys make my early mornings a little better posting your fun on this thread. My apologies for not keeping up as much as I would like in responding to the beautiful images. They are always wonderful and inspiring.

The few images I manage lately are therapeutic at best and that is about all one can expect when looking out the window of one's back door as so many hours have passed while doing so over the last decade.

The pergola above was a distraction to attempt a long exposure with a rare and brief rain shower. The morning was unsuccessful at the lake with solid grey skies and no wind. Sigh... but the last rose next to the pergola from a few days ago reminded me that all things are transient. Take from that what you will.

Gaspť cliff, near Cap-Bon-Ami. I love the unusual texture. Older image I'm working on, part of a panorama for a large print. 645D, 400mm FA.

Yes, I also was permitted the use of my tripod at Roger Dean Stadium; for whatever reason the policy at the new Houston Astros Stadium is different.
