**Note: This could be considered a Health PSA, fully endorsed by Dante***

    Wow... !!!...

I just got some new gas permeable contact lenses today(my old ones were 12 years old) and the difference is literally amazing! Exam was quick and easy, and five days later, my eyesight is once again corrected to 20/15.

It makes me wonder if I missed some great photo opportunities in the past few years... but I don't think so, other than the joy of seeing everything in detail with different eyes. I will now go back through this thread to reacquaint myself with what is arguably the best MF image thread ever!

Now I bet Dante will throw some new Medium Format gear in front of me to salivate over!
    Best regards,
    Dave (GT)

I just returned from an extended road trip and print workshop in the American west. I have several files I'm anxious to work on, but I'll try to restrain myself and not flood this thread with images. Virgin River in Zion National Park, 645Z, 80-160.

Shot with a 'lowly' Canon FDn50/1.4 lens @f8 with an X1D body. Handheld, three image stitch, original file 22000px wide.

It is incredible what you get for a sub €/£/$ 100 lens. On top it was a very strong sun straight into the lens on the third shot on the right side.

I finally crumbled and got one! A couple from my first trip out today, it handles very nice and the files look good. Just having to calibrate myself to the dof (or lack of) after my m4/3 gear

    God's Poor

In Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem of St. Francis of Assisi the birds were described as God's Poor. We have feeders and a couple of birdhouses in our yard to provide a little for our feathered friends. They, in return, provide us with many lessons about life. Nature is like that.

This birdhouse resides in the Red Maple tree in our front yard. It is couched in the limbs, amidst the colorful Autumnal crescendo we experience each Fall. Today, it is wintery and the tree is bare. But for a time, the bird house is sequestered in a beautiful place.

Just for fun, a whimsical view of our small contribution to our community of God's Poor:

Nice pastels! Crazy good perspective that is disorienting, as it looks like it could easily be a macro abstract! Well done, as usual!!!

    Re: Fun with MF images

Frosty morning here in the 'burbs... our grass is crunchy, everything is covered in icy frost. It occurs to me this may be as close to a snowfall as we will get this year, given the weather patterns as of late.

This last week I have been daydreaming of a ski trip to the Western North Carolina mountains with the grandkids. The web cams show awesome snow conditions! But it is only a dream.

So, it is almost Christmas now and we seem to have few MF images of snowy scenes and those who have posted some, I appreciate it very much. Of course, most people are sick of the cold weather.

But not me! I have been walking the streets of our neighborhood for a couple of weeks now, with a fully loaded backpack and it has been exhilarating! Not sure about the neighbors. They cross over the street to the other sidewalk when they see me coming, even the runners with their dogs on a leash. The dogs bark at me and I can't wait to strap on the tripod!!!!

    Bail money anyone?

So, while I slowly get into shape, any shape other than round, show me some snow!!! Much appreciated in advance!!!!
    Best regards,
    Dave (GT)

    Re: Fun with MF images

An early portfolio image but it has been very popular. I printed a 4x8 footer for a new collector today so thought I would share.

Almost every one who acquires this image tells how it reminds them of growing up on a farm or visiting grandad’s place. It’s a quintessential image of winter in the Ozarks. We don’t take care of our old barns and outsheds once abandoned. We seem to enjoy watching them decay into nothing.

P45, Cambo RS, 35XL, three shifted exposures:

    Certainly an iconic image! Wonderful.

Two images of Yosemite Valley, taken during a print workshop I took with Charles Cramer. Very worthwhile experience and a great location in November.
