Wow! Only been on holiday for a week or so and this thread has exploded with amazing work. Well done everybody
Our autumn is a very mixed bag at the moment, leaves either on the floor or still green on the trees! Only the odd tree has any colour
Anyway, from this morning.

Beautiful colors, Alan.
Being a little below par lately, I find myself falling behind in my digital processing. The film backlog is long as well.
But, I did manage to finally finish this one.

Steven, I'm happy to see you back here posting wonderful images of Utah. Some years ago, your photos of the area around Telluride, CO, posted here on GetDPI, were so inspirational to me that I took a photo excursion to the area in 2013. Armed with screenshots of your photos, a newsletter from Robert Hitchman, and the better part of a day with Andy Cook, a Denver-based workshop leader, I explored and photographed the scenes around Ouray, Ridgway and Telluride. My photos were mediocre, but the experience was amazing. So much so that I returned this fall, one week later than my last trip, and caught the peak of fall color. I've fallen in love with that area of Colorado and, like Pramote, will go back. And now you're luring me to Utah with the spectacular scenes from last year. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your outstanding work with the rest of us.
Joe

I had to walk hundreds of feet to obtain this photo of the rare "mallard".
I'm particularly fond of the tiny water beads around its eye, although the feather textures on the body are also nice.

I think this photo should make you reconsider about H !
Boss, I hope you haven't fallen out.

You wanted a Sonnet? This is the second one I've written in my life (the other one was just as bad!)
Across the pond the trees were turning red.
The air so still. I stopped to look around:
A tiny "plop". I froze and turned my head.
To see what broke the silence with its sound.
The ripples and reflections knocked me flat.
Speechless at the beauty so revealed.
I swore I'd have to try to capture that.
Perfection in a moment one could feel.
But luck and planning saved that perfect place.
I had the tools for images, you see.
I always have them with me just in case
A tripod and a Hassy X1D
The poet only captures it with rhyme
Photographers will beat that every time.
M
(Yeats, Shakespeare, and Homer might take issue with that final couplet. Dante would understand.)

Thank you for your kind feedback. This was a film capture using a Horseman camera. It was shot about five years ago. Today I would stitch it. I typically shoot just the trees, but wanted to show a image combing the trees with the mountains. There have been so many amazing aspen images shown this autumn on the forum.

Star trails over a fairly large city. This is a blend of 70 frames at 30 seconds each, ISO 400 @ f/8.0. The individual frames were processed in Capture One and exported as PSDs. They were then loaded as layers in Photoshop and converted to a Smart Object. I duplicated the smart object and used the Maximum stacking mode for the sky (to reveal the star trails) and the Mean stacking mode for the foreground (to get loads of shadow detail). The resulting PSB file is just over 33 GB.
