CameraWest Leica SF and Leica Miami have S bodies at ridiculously low prices at the present. With the S 008 announcement approaching - maybe
in a couple of months ... might be worth taking a payment from the insurance and buying a beater ... then upgrading to the new body or S 007
when you know its specs.
Very sorry to hear of the loss ... nothing worse than watching the crash unfold and realizing it was not a minor thing.
Glad to hear that the lenses appear intact ... might want to have it tested to assure that the collimation is still good.

I know I'll have no trouble getting a used 006, and might want to have one forever as a backup anyway. I tested the lenses by shooting center and corners, and the corners are all equal. I think it's very unlikely that something went out of adjustment perfectly evenly. The 24 is exactly as soft in the extreme corners as it ever was - it's amazing how much that hasn't harmed a single photo! The 45 and 100 show slight CA wide open in the corners - they're not APO.
As for 007 vs. waiting, I'm pretty sure whatever is next won't be on the shelves for a good while. If I can get an 007 at a decent price ... well, it depends on the insurance.
Thank you for the sympathy and advice,
Matt
