Nicely done Alan, I didn't know you used MF gear.Mamiya 645 Pro, 50mm Shift, Ixpress 528C, Hamsterley Forest
What a shame. I follow your reasoning but I dont know any more about the gear you have to offer any constructive advice. Have you considered posting a seperate thread on here to see if anyone who knows the same gear could suggest a solution. A lot of very knowledgeable folks on here, I bet someone could help?Thank's Mark, I have had the back for a few years now and have used it with a few cameras. This is a nice setup but with the problem that I can't use the (electronic) cable release as the back plugs into the socket! Also no timer! If I use the cameras shutter speeds and release with a press it works fine! Ahhhhhh! So longer s/s are a nightmare. The output when all goes well is fantastic, just a reduced window to work with. I am getting to the point were I am wondering if it is worth the effort tbh.
Probably just the right people didn't happen to read the thread. Maybe someone will pick it up from here. Good luck with it anyway.I did that a couple of months ago but got no response at all! I have thought of trying to jury rig a mechanical cable release, may try soon. You would have thought that there would be an "official" solution, but I have not been able to track it down. Such is life!
I shoot exclusively with the ES on my 3100 and have never run into any issues with movement. That's not to say that anything goes as, for sure, there are limitations.Given the relatively slow 300 millisec readout of the 1D electronic shutter, I wonder about the potential use of the X1D electronic shutter for landscape applications. I understand that the camera needs to be tripod supported but "normal" movement in landscape subjects may not be a problem but perhaps subjects such moving water in flowing stream or wave motion in seascapes might be a problem? I would appreciate any landscape photography feedback with the X1D operating in the electronic shutter mode.
