This is not an answer to your question but Sinar makes a similar one which attaches to the filter ring of the lens (via another ring):

    Sinar Photography Sinar arTec

scroll to "Lens Shade arTec / lanTec / p3"

Not sure how this design would work with ND's, I'd think it leak light all over the place

    It's a shade, not a filter holder.

no one? It seems to just float on the camera. Maybe Photoshoped?

Looks like barn doors for lighting although I know its not. Its possible it could be a Cambo product or Sinar from a 4x5 setup. Not sure
Photography is all about experimentation and without it you will never learn art.

The XY body has a small opening for a hex rod (below the damper). I don't know if this is can used in the way I suppose but quite a few LF shades attach via hex rods.

PS: Here's an old ad with an image showing the opening: http://www.getdpi.com/forum/513917-post9.html

Have a look at this old Sinar catalogue :

    http://www.sinar.ch/wp-content/uploa...logue-2000.pdf
    page 29
    Sinar Hood Mask 1 533.11 + 472.61 + 473.31

with adapter rings it can be attached to the front lens thread, I had it on a
    Technorama 617 / 90.

Thanks everyone! and especially to Ignazi for digging up the file. I found it. It is indeed a sinar barn door attached through the hex hole of the XY. found and purchased!

    Thanks
