    Leica takes over Sinar

    Hi,

Seems like there are movements on the MF / view Camera front (pun intended :-) ):

What do you make of that ? Could Leica be developing a digital back to couple to their newly acquired Sinar ?

Interesting. Glad to see that Sinar are in the hands of a profitable high-end camera company, and not some Lunatic outfit like Hasselblad's buyers, Ventizz.

Ray, what are you talking about? Ventizz could come out with the Pro-"Voyager" line--both in reference to the NASA and TV programs. The studio line could be called "Skylab." Get an New Sony A7R with a Rhino sliding adapter and slap a wooden handle on that puppy. Instant success…if priced right...

...well perhaps Leica may further assist in evolving the 75LV (33mp) to 85LV (48mp) that is currently used with the multi-shot eXact.

Could be there are some patents that Sinar has that Leica wants? I really can't imagine Leica getting into the MF back game at this point.

I'd love to see a back for field use based on the 48 mp sensor. To me that sensor is the ultimate tradeoff in price/performance and size for tech cam use. Not sure about pricing of Sinar backs though, the eXact is terribly expensive but I guess you get to pay for the rare multi-shot feature.
