    ok worth a truthful response...

Sadly Doug, I had to slum it and use my RRS ballhead on a crappy Gitzo 3 series. The Hy6 was not impressed and I am still getting over the guilts - you know how tempremental these cameras can be. Still I have to save my pennies for the arTec and a few Sinarons.

As usual Jack is correct in his view on equipment that he has used ( and kept) - I highly recommend the Cube - despite its cost. The Ries came via David K - a bargain for me as it was less in cost than the crappy 3 series Gitzos ( by crappy I mean relative stability) - again a superiror piece of equiment fo rmy purposes and the look is a bonus.

If you are interested in the Alpa - send me a note it is like new.

As far as Porn King - I dont have an ambition for that - and there are a few people ahead of me. As far as presentation goes - look at the post previous to mine, look at David k's 350SE on Contax..and anythign Marc W posts! -

btw - I make no aapologies for liking sexy looking gear. It is half the fun. Also peopel take a lot of trouble to put thei rsystems together - and I have learned a lot from just looking at certain set-ups.

    Regards
    Pete

Thought it was time to update my setup since a couple things have changed since I got the Cube.

Same camera setup just shot in different settings.

That's the Flare Buster from B&H. Just got it last night and haven't had a chance to use it yet. I did play with it last night and found I can also use it to hold a Cokin filter in place - works great as a third hand!

Re: Show Us Your Technical Camera Setup

Thanks all for sharing these pictures of your setups.

I just acquired my Horseman SWD-II and am having a great time getting everything up and running.

I'm curious: what plates are folks using for their technical camera to mount to the ball heads (or cubes, as it were)? It's hard to tell in the posted pictures. Does anyone use a RRS plate (generic?) or are you using something else? I generally use a RRS system (pan head, rails, etc) on a BH55 head.

    Thanks,

    -Josh

I use a RRS generic plate - an dI am not convinced of its mounting - had to let teh base out of the cube a tad too much I think - I am thinking if use a Cube I go for teh arca plates. for tight fit. The RRS plate can only be slid in form teh ends.

Re: Show Us Your Technical Camera Setup

i am using the Rollei XactII with the phase 20 back and have a question/comment.

it is extremely difficult to judge critical focus on the ground glass so i have tried using tethered mode. unfortunately the P20 does not offer live view.
so far I can only get this to work with my mac pbp, but that is inconvenient and I would rather use my PC laptop. C1 does not see the back when hooked up to the pc however. what am i doing wrong?

is it possible to convert the P20 to live view (P20+?) and is that effective?

I had just gotten the buster before leaving for Carmel so didn't have any real world experience with it; after using it several times now I can say that I like it. I used it several times to cut the glare coming in from the side off the water and if you flip it backwards it'll help in seeing the screen; at least it made it easier to read the histogram.

    Hope this helps.
