NEW Airplane DSLR on board policy?

What is your experience with the new Airplane DSLR on board policy for certain airliners which fly towards middle east, etc.

I am flying to Europe via Turkey with Turkish Airlines. As per the new security policy, I can't have my DSLR, laptops in possession. They keep everything in a bag and will be given back to the passengers at the end of the flight.

What is your experience? Do they take the DSLR with all the lenses or they take the body only and I can keep the lenses in my carry on bag? Obviously, I want to give them less as possible.

Please share your experience!

Thanks!

Many of us had an expanded carry on search from Zurich to JFK at the end of last month even though we were Global Entry TSA approved. That meant turning on laptop, cell phone and cameras, i.e., any carry on item with batteries.

The disorganized state even in Zurich meant many of us were in the priority boarding line after waiting one hour near the boarding gate. Then once we were at the boarding pass reader it was only then when they pulled us aside for an extreme check down the hall for explosives. Once approved they escorted each one of us separately back to the front of the line at our boarding gate so that we could board the plane.

So for me this meant my entire trip I did not have Pre-Check status and at JFK that meant after exiting customs I found myself waiting in the regular security TSA line with shoes off and belt off, whereas generally in the US I use the Pre-check line and breeze right through.

I believe in security, but why target those with TSA background checks for Global Entry since everyone in the extreme security room while I was there had Global Entry?

Totally agree...... I too have global entry and you would think that after going through all of that hassle that the TSA would streamline security for those with that security scrutiny. Complete TSA disorganization........
