Just to set the record straight, there have been three issues with the X1D that have been experienced to one degree or another by those that have bought production units. One, general stability issues such as lock-ups. Two, No Card Errors with at least certain SD cards. And three, control wheel issues. The first and second issues were addressed in the most recent 1.17 firmware update. The third issue is a hardware issue, not a firmware issue, and Hasselblad has never said that the issue would be addressed with firmware. They are addressing it on warranty as a hardware issue. I have no idea how you reach the conclusion that the latest firmware is a "setback." Was there something that you personally found with the new firmware that was not as advertised?
I have not personally experienced any issue with the control wheels on my X1D, but I would not, for a minute, minimize the significance of the issue for those that are dealing with it. It sucks. On the other hand, if anyone thinks all is perfect with the Fuji GFX, they need to put down the Kool Aid and read the reviews of the GFX and the lenses by Lloyd Chambers. You don't believe Lloyd, as you think he just hates Fuji and makes this stuff up? Ok, then read the reports from average buyers about defective GFX bodies and lenses on the GFX Facebook page and the DP Review Medium Format Forum. It doesn't appear to me that Fuji's QC is anything to hold up as a model of perfection. I am not pointing a finger at Fuji as unique. Spotty QC seems to be an inevitable part of the world we live in. Yet, notwithstanding these teething issues, those who have purchased the X1D seem to be quite happy with what it delivers. I am sure the same is true with the GFX.
