H Series & Profoto A1

We use Profoto and are interested in an A1, but have an HxD related question for anyone out there.

You put an SB-900 or alike on a H series to get a simple manual flash and you get nothing but error codes, requiring a reset, as the camera has no idea WTF is trying to talk to it. You tape over all but the center trigger-only contact and no issues - that is until the sharp Nikon pins wear through the tape in short order.

That said, I've seen at least one video of someone using a Profoto A1, with no form of dumb adapter or apparent tape, on a H6. Unlike the X1D, the H6 is not i-TTL compliant.

Does using the TTL/Manual switch on the A1 disconnect the TTL-centric pins for the A1 electronics or was it mirrors ?

Found the solution.

Putting the A1 in XSync mode (indirectly from Profoto Canada rep and pg 23 of manual) , non-ops the TTL pins and allows use on any camera (with a hotshoe it will fit) in manual mode while retaining AiR transmitter use.
