Hi

Thanks

Have you tried with just the 091?

That should block out UV and everything below 630nm I think

Thanks

Phil
I remember when CI was helping shim my STC adapter with the IQ4 we tested the 486 only and the red 091 only and also the 486+091. Adding the red to the 486 did not shift focus and the images had the contrast level that I like best. Some might prefer the orange 040 in cases where large white puffy clouds are present since the 091 to some eyes makes these clouds look a bit strange.

I can understand the logic, the 486 maintains the auto focus and the 091 gives you 630 - 700 nm and high contrast . Being in Miami (Great Clouds) I usually keep the orange filter on the XF with 486 and the tech w/o the 486. Sometimes move to 091 you are right about the clouds:cool:

I like your shots and also the the ones by Dr Paul who is using a lot of IR. For B&W contrast I find Sebatiao Salgado beyond words. Check It out, I think you would like it.

The eye...

... because of the cloud formation over the ruined defense tower.

Cambo WRS 1200, SK 72mm Apo-Digitar, 8mm Shift, 5 Degree Tilt, ISO200, F8, 1 / 125s, Heliopan 695nm Filter. I would have needed a little more than 5 degrees of adjustment, but more is not possible with the small pancake view camera.

There is such beauty in the simplicity of the pure grays proffered by the IQ4 150 Achromatic. This particular challenge was a black metal structure, an artists' studio barn, against the snow in bright sunlight. It was the reflection off the windows on the snow that captured my initial interest.

Dreary and cold flat light days, when color has taken the day off, give the monochrome a chance to show its strength. This is when the landscape camera artist is forced to not only look, but see. It is an entirely different process to determine if there is something to be made from the more limited palette.
