Small tablet to drive IQ4-150

Is there really no show last captured image option to the hdmi screen?
It's totally possible that I'm an idiot but I couldn't get it to work as of a couple days ago. Also, stuff like no picture or HDMI settings resetting would take place at unpredictable times. :banghead:

As for mounting, my normal tether arrangement is a MacBook Pro 13 on a Magic Arm + Inovativ DigiPlate Lite. The DP Lite might be a bit excessive for a Surface-style tablet, but for slightly heavier rigs, mine works great. ...and to follow up on the question at the bottom of my review: I did end up switching to an Arca plate (Inovativ makes one that I should have bought if only they'd advertised that they have one, but I used one I had around the gear crib and a couple of fender washers), and equipping the Magic Arm with a cheapass Arca clamp receiver. Makes the whole rig much more convenient and flexible without the DigiBase hanging off the plate all the time--and it saves about a pound and a half.

Looks like a nice solution - thanks for sharing the link and update!

I tether to my Macbook in the field and have been looking on and off for a lightweight solution for mounting other than tossing into the tripod hammock (which actually works well enough for me). If I could attach an Arca-Swiss plate to the bottom of one of the ubiquitous plastic laptop cases available online, this would eliminate the need for the metal frame, which for me would add more weight and bulk than I'd be willing to carry while hiking in the woods...

Apologies for dragging this thread further off topic...

Nice review of the DigiPlate. I'm bummed that the presale support was dismal at best. It sounds like you've made some great solutions for it. Also, to lighten the load even more you could directly screw the DigiPlate to the end of a MagicArm.

I usually go straight on the camera with custom mounts. It's more natural to make camera adjustments while looking in the same direction as the camera instead of down at your tripod. Kind of like an 8x10 ground glass.

And what kind of tablet does your picture shows?
Does it runs capture one via usb and does the live view works?

If you are referring to using HDMI for playback, currently there is no support. Only Live View. Which is a huge oversight as any other camera I know of with HDMI support allows for playback/image review. It just part of the HDMI stream.

This is an old iPad Mini on a IQ3. It was just to illustrate mounting a tablet on the Cambo. So, does not run capture one and no the live view does not work with an IQ4.

I would ask Ken Doo or Don Libby, but first ask them to rename their contraption (Googling it will take you to a variety of NSFW sites). :ROTFL:
Well, you have to admit it gives you a great excuse if you happen to get caught by your wife surfing the porn sites. :ROTFL:

Lots of clamping experiments before I was able to cobble together a nice small clamp solution using rare earth magnets. See, https://kendoophotography.wordpress...-with-the-surface-pro-evolving-clamp-choices/

Has anybody tried to tether the IQ4150 with the Surface Go?

I was talking with Don Libby, a respected enabler, who uses the Surface Go (running Windows 10 Pro) with Capture One as a viewer for his Fuji GFX100 image files (not for processing) when traveling. The Surface Go has a USB C plug. Don has not tried to tether his GFX100.

What I find significant is that the Surface Go (a tablet) can run Capture One. I'll place bets that the Surface Go can tether with the IQ4150. It may take longer to view the images when tethered, but perhaps this offers a stop-gap measure for viewing/focusing the IQ4150 while on location until Phase One (finally) catches up and releases firmware so that the stated IQ4 feature sets can be fully realized, such as Capture Pilot. I also take pride in goading Graham Welland into purchasing more Microsoft/Windows products over Apple. :ROTFL: An external lithium battery pack might be a good idea for charging and for extended shooting capability.

Has anyone used the Surface Go for tethering with the IQ4150?

I'll admit to not having a dog in this fight however I have been using the Go for several months now without an issue. My Go has 8GB RAM, 1.60GHz, running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. The main drive is 119GB with a micro card 365GB.

I have C1-12 installed and use it to view files that were shot during the day and to save to an external drive. While I think I could tether I simply have no real need. Battery life seems to be okay as well.

I have had it hinted to me from someone under NDA that there is project to tether to IPAD pro over USB C and I'm guessing a IPAD version of capture one. This would be a massive undertaking and would take a long time... Probably why its a long time after the IQ1 150 release but I am hoping coming soon..

Yes, maybe an Ipad version of C1 would be available sometime in the future---but why make Graham Welland wait? :ROTFL:

C'mon, Graham. Surface Go!

Let us know how it works

With a Intel Pentium 4415Y @ 1.60GHz in the Surface Go, Graham might be waiting about the same amount of time for his images to process as it takes P1 to bring out an IPAD version.. :-D

The whole discussion is just sad. Why is there still no iPad Tablet option?!? It’s sad as hell. I found a work around with my dealer with a surface pro, but honestly, it’s a work around nothing more. It feels like 2000 bit like 2020.... in my opinion the whole firmware update and communication from phase one has been underwhelming...

I don’t get it and I wouldn’t invest in a company which currently lost it completely.... I have always been a supporter and have over 100k in phase one gear, but the whole Iq4 story is just sad.

I have a Surface Go but haven’t been able to make it work with the IQ4150 tethered via USB C and live view. That said, I haven’t tried it with C1-20 or the latest IQ4 firmware.

I’ll give it another try with the updates.

I agree about the lack of iPad support.

I went to look at the Surface Go's at Best buy a week ago but seemed like such a waste of money for a band aid, so I couldn't talk myself into it. I will stick to my USB-C iPad Pro and hope one day I get to use it with my 4150.
