Back AND Adaptor cap, such a think for Linhof plate?

Hi all,

Just wondering if Linhof make an equivalent product as this one from Cambo: LINK

It's a cover / cap that, "protects the CCD while the digital back stays mounted [to the adaptor plate] when taking the adapter off the WRS camera."

I'm asking because I've been thinking a lot about sliding back accuracy – my whole Linhof Techno kit is away for servicing, with possible slider alignment issues being closely looked at as I've been experiencing some problems in the field – and have been thinking I might be able to live with direct mounting the back to camera IF such a product like this exists for the Linhof plates. If it doesn't, the extra hassle of fiddling with attaching / detaching the back from plate, then plate from camera, along with doing the same with the ground glass, is just not worth it.

I can't see one listed on the Linhof or Linhof Studio websites, but maybe it does exist?

Thanks,

T

You could probably easily 3d print one for pretty cheap.

Its an odd thing: in the world of tech cameras, some of them require backs taken on and off, and yet finding covers for them is pretty thin pickings. Cambo finally got around to it, but if the dealer doesn't have one for the Techno, slim chance they made one.

Given that there is some spare space to the sides of the sensor opening on the mounting plate, one could find a simple way to attach something. But Tim is right - its a bit awkward.

Thanks,

I'd never really thought about it because I've always used the sliding back, but to be honest I could give up the slider and save a ton of room in my bag IF such a cap was made. I'd miss the panoramas, but would appreciate the simplicity and greater level of (assumed) accuracy.

Although I know I could 3d print one somehow, I have little interest in the time that would take. Seems a strange thing for a manufacturer like Linhof to not make, right?

Lastly, do Linhof use their own special adaptor plate, or is it a kind of 'universal' adaptor plate? I ask this because my one is actually branded Phase One (it's a dark silver–bronze in colour) so always assumed it was used by other manufacturers. The Linhof made plate I borrowed from Linhof & Studio is black and actually seems a bit better made, but who knows. As long as the focal plane is correct, it's very solid – which both are – it doesn't really matter I'm guessing.
