New Sharp monitor to use 5 primary colors

    From Ars:
    http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/...ge-of-lcds.ars

Sharp has developed a new LCD panel that uses five primary colors instead of the standard three primaries of red, green, and blue. The full 1920x1080 pixel panel is said to cover 99 percent of the Pointer "real world" color space and should far exceed that of the standard RGB color space used in current LCD models, even those that claim to cover the AdobeRGB color space.

"Sharp is planning on commercializing the product soon, it says. In the meantime, though, Sharp's new design will remain in the prototype stage."

Nice to be able to buy it now.

Oh yeh, and leave it to a company to redefine "primary colors". No where have I ever seen cyan presented as a primary color. Anyway we'll see if it ever materializes.

I'm wondering whether future digital cameras will use a 5 colour bayer matrix to capture a comparable colour space.
