    HI Carlos
just butting in. I use the G1 on aperture priority all the time. As you reduce the aperture the EVF gains up, and the exposure is calculated accordingly - it works best (IMHO) on aperture priority. You still don't have to do any stopping down or anything else before shooting - just press the shutter release when you've got it right.

Jono, I never consider your opinion to be "butting in". I highly value your wisdom and experience, sir. Everyone here is my teacher, and I your humble student.

Rode my bike out to Crockett to catch the late afternoon light on the C&H plant before the weather goes to rain. Hard to get a good angle on it.

That last one is so bucolic! It is like a John Constable painting with that cow in the front striking the pose.

My thought as well. It reminds me of a painting from my childhood.

I like the sugar factory also, but it would have been even better if you could chop down the bushes in the front.

More fun with my Hartblei. Decided to tryout the stitching again on a larger scale. Six portrait shots merged with Panorama Factory:

Full sized image (almost 7000 pixels wide)

Sorry about the noisy image in broad daylight. I had to get the shots before I got run over by traffic or chased off by a cop, and I under exposed by 2 stops (was on manual).

Panorama Factory is the software I used to do the stitching. The building is the EuroSuites Hotel in Doral, FL. The lens is the Hartblei Super Rotator 45mm f/3.5 in Nikon mount.

    Carlos,
Since it's a processed image anyway, I think I would have cloned away the black "thing" in the top, right corner. Apart form that, it's a nice photo (and I see no noise )

    Viablex,
The last one looks even better, so full of drama. What made them close down the church in the first place?

    Lovely images Stuart...........congratulations.

One of the shots reminds me of the prow shot of Kate Winslet in Titanic. Only difference is that ship was a wondrous capitalist delight whilst your shot is of a similar view but on an old oil tanker LOL Seriously thought, beautiful work Stuart. Love this stuff in B&W. In color I suspect these would be pretty ordinary whereas in black and white they are very evocative.

    Thanks guys,

I am glad that you like them. Woody -- I will post color versions so that you can get a feel for them. I like them in color as well. I have not seen Titanic, but I do know that scene. It is funny, I was not thinking of that when I took it, but that is what everyone has said upon seeing it.

Viablex -- I really like that shot -- the color pallete is great. I love that oxidized copper color around the test tubes.

I think I was right Stuart. The color photos are very nice but the black and whites rock with hidden impact. I think it is most vividly displayed in the oil tanker scene. In color, I see a girl on top of an old oil tank contrasting her soft beauty to the rusted tank. In black and white I can see the ship with her at the prow looking out not to sea but to her imagined new life. A totally different experience.

Great work in both cases. just my humble opinion as to the aesthetic differences.

    Re: Fun Pictures with Nikon

From a recent artist reference shoot. In the past I would have put a bit of fill light in this but the client insists I don't any more. He wins, because he pays.
    D300, 17-55 f2.8. Just slight levels adjustments.
I'm having trouble bringing myself to buy a D700 as my pair of 300's serve me so well. Also the cost of a D700 plus 24-70 is about the same price as the Sony 900 with Zeiss 24-70. I just don't need that many pixels at present. However, a decision will have to be made before the end of the TAX year. Come on Pound, rise against the Yen in the next month or so

Great photo Emma, and perfect timing

David, clients often want strange things, but this one turned out rather well. Lots of drama in those shadows.

Went to a golf tournament yesterday, without the golf bag. Lots of grass there, very suitable for golf.
