Here I'm away for a couple of days, and there are soooo many cool photos. Too many to mention, but the synchronised lunch wins the prize from me. Great timing

    Jorgen,

Not a Nikon, but the much-loved Leica Digilux 2... How about synchronized shopping? I shot this sitting in a restaurant in Amsterdam, just random shooting as people appeared in the doorway. It wasn't until I had the image on the monitor that I saw the details: identical twins, dressed the same, both with shopping bags and cigarettes, and all this in perfect synchronicity!

Decided to stick with DX for a while; traded my 20 for a 12-24 Nikkor. First test this late afternoon. Like it, I think.

Interesting that you are saying that. As much as I would like to have a D700 or a D3 or a D3X, except for the exceptional high ISO or high pixel count of those cameras, I'm very happy with the DX format at the moment. There are some excellent, inexpensive WA lenses available (I'm probably going for the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8), I get a lot of reach with more compact telephoto lenses, and if I want a top class portrait lens, I can buy the relatively inexpensive Sigma 50. And obviously, there's no FX Fuji available anyway...

Nice forest photos, and as Lloyd said: very nice b&w conversions.

    Re: Fun Pictures with Nikon

Lloyd, I keep coming back to your red, white and blue, high-key sailboat photo. I didn't like it to start with, but it's growing on me. There's one thing though: since the two yachts are the main subjects, I keep searching for better definition, a little bit higher contrast, between the hulls and the background, and between the mainsail of the boat to the right and the background. As it is, I have to look twice to see where the hulls end and where the background starts.

In any case, it's absolutely a photo to hang on the wall.

    Re: Fun Pictures with Nikon

hey thanks believe it or not it I used a D700 the 24-70 and that turbine shot I took only once, just the usual CC and sharpening. It was iso 125 I remember that much F22 exposure time was 3 seconds, I always try to use mirror lock up. that D700 has such a great range and that nikon glass is kick A**

the little truck was iso 125 F13 and 20 seconds and a led light was used, the tunnel was very dark!!!

glad I could contribute to such a great thread. there are so many great photographers on here it has really made me want to be better...

thanks Jim, different asylums that are in disuse in the northeast, most from one in New Jersey, the last from baltimore.. I was thinking about getting a D300 converted to IR but maybe I will get a D90, I already have a D200 converted but that D90 gives some nice images!!!!

Looks like some fantastic locations. You have an excellent series in work there

An IR camera there would add additional drama (although there's plenty with a regular camera)

    Jim,

This is a great composition!! Really terrific. Great balance. My eye keeps moving and is rewarded wherever it goes.

I wonder if I might like it more not IR.

For a young, novice monk, getting the robe straight can be a big challenge. It's a big piece of cloth, and there's only one correct way to wear it.

Buddhist temples are sometimes built in the middle of nowhere, often at very idyllic locations. A perfect place for contemplation.

    David,
You post photos here far to seldom. Your motives contain a combination of drama and sensuality that is fascinating as well as scarringly realistic. Very well performed.

I do hope that you didn't have to behead the model for real to achieve the desired effect though

Thanks Jorgen, to be honest, I only shoot once every few months or so for 2 or 3 days back to back, when I have some ideas and then stop. Afterwards it takes me a while to make a selection and decide how to present it. I have a couple more things coming from the same shooting period that I'll be posting this week.

The model was great, she'd dip her head underwater until I got the shot and it took a while and a good twenty shots or more for those lotus leaves to float into right position.

I'm more traditional with MF for now while trying to get my head around and understand the system better, here are my first posts in that forum near the bottom of the page,

    http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/showth...8160#post98160

but hope to rectify that soon and shoot with the same way I use the S5 which I know very well.

Where do temples come from? From combined efforts, mostly. Monks, ordinary people, some with and some without money, work together for years to accomplish something like this, to have a place for their spiritual needs.

All your gorgoeous shots inspired my to try my first panorama with D700 & ZF50mm Makro-Planar, stitched from 4 RAW shots with final file size of 128MB!

It was a beautiful sunset evening.

Looks good but you've got to watch out for those blown headlights, especially in sunsets.
