Nothing like a small town Memorial Day Parade to make you feel warm and fuzzy.

    Vintage Girl Scout Uniforms!

Gold Star Moms (the one on the left lost her son in the USS Cole bombing).

    Fuji S5 and 24-70 f/2.8

Isn't that the truth. For years my father marched with the American Legion color guard. Too old to do so now, but he still dons the uniform and stands at attention when the flag goes by on Memorial Day.

Beautiful color, Cindy. I'm really impressed by the skin tones too. Nicely done.

    Re: Fun Pictures with Nikon

Thanks Lloyd and Viablex. I love shooting parades and the Fuji does it so well. I shoot several parades like this in the summer and the light is always super contrasty and hard to deal with. I just spot meter with the Fuji and watch the histogram and the info is all there....skin tones are the best from any digital camera I've used, too.

Lloyd, God bless your Dad and all those who served.

Viablex, Love the IR, especially the last one.

These are simply stunning... stunning actually seems inadequate. Wow. Hard to pick a favorite, but these two really sing.

Great IR photos, Viablex, particularly the waterfalls.

The "institutional" photos are very good as well, particularly the first one, where the lighting is spot on. Why did I suddenly get this urge not to go to the dentist

Sometimes it strikes me that Im a bloody lucky guy - to be where I am. Not that this place is any better than anywhere else, really; I always long to go somewhere else, see. But this is also good.

Im not going looney or philosophical here, just scrounging for an excuse to post some snaps that are clichs indeed, but I still like them. Maybe because I was there and thus biased.

Theyre all from yesterday morning a little before six, sun was climbing, it had rained a bit and dew was lifting. i was out with the dog as (more or less) usual, but for once I grabbed the S5 on the way out. Nothing much, just a nice morning.

HaHaHa! If I had the time, Id take you to the woods (virtually) and show you the snow still lurking under trees and in the shadows. We had one great winter, you know - and thats how WE NORWEGIANS learn to appreciate the colour green, the sun and ...

Beware of this, I am not envious!

Oh, but we entered the rainy season a few weeks ago, and believe me: it rains every day. It's usually a bit better starting in the middle of June, but in August-October, it's wet, wet, wet (and green, green, green). It can't even be used for skiing

It's always nice to get warnings if the photo is good. That makes it even more valuable, doesn't it...

    Klaus and Leif,
Well observed. The concept and design is almost the same as Stressless, but it's another chair, made by another Norwegian. He comes from Sykkylven too, so it's close enough

A lot of great images in the few of days since I last looked here...

Viablex, repeating what others said before, your IR water shots are wonderfully serene.

Great light on your porch Lloyd.

Carlos, the dancer in your 5th shot looks most impressive, as she did in your rehearsal picts, and great purple skies.

Cindy, impressive depth and of course color in your Daisy!

Leif e, simple beauty of what's around.

Alex, great atmosphere in that church, the 135/2 is one my most favorite all time Nikkors, continue playing with it and it will surprise you with its special qualities.

Very colorful for a ShiroKuro man!

and my friend Jorgen, what can I say, you seem to continue capturing the queer and the wonderful over there. Your images always bring back fond memories and make me miss the kon thai more than what I'd like to admit to myself...

Thanks Helen. Yes, that's his grandma, my mother. He is a fantastic little guy. All smiles, hardly ever cries -- and of course super-cute. I am totally smitten.

Stuart, Your nephew is darling. I especially like the shot with his Grandma.

Thank you Lloyd, David and Helen. Here is another stack of 12 that I processed in Helicon Focus. Fuji S5 and the Mamiya 150 on bellows.
