I normally take sunrises so this is quite a change. These are of Bare Island at La Perouse, a suburb of Sydney on Sunday 9 January 2011.

I went with a bunch of other photographers, we had pizzas while waiting for the sun to make its way down towards the horizon, you can see many of them on the right-side of this panorama.

Go through to my Flickr site if you want to see a bigger version of the panorama. Here is a more conventional shot.

Both were taken with a Nikon D90 and Nikkor 10-24mm zoom.

CC welcome.

Rayyan, The Glow In His Eyes! Youth Captured Wonderfully! How i Miss It!;):)
Steve, you are not the only one pal. Long past.. Thanks.

Hmm... thought a place so small was beneath her dignity, eh? Well, can't blame her really, does seem a bit quaint. :D
Lloyd, I have had a bit of trouble at home. With a comment I made in that post. Just managed to sleep in the house this time.:D

Someone is furious!!

I think I miss it too... just not sure I can remember back that far. :(

(It is a great shot, Rayyan.)
Thank Lloyd. I can't remember that far either.!

Good work Rayyan!
Thanks Franceso.

Appreciate you all for your kind words.:salute:

Wow. The IQ here is stunning. I think you should title this one: "How the Sphinx spends his vacation." :D
Steve, Lloyd..here is how it might have gone..

Hi, said the Sphinx. Staring as he had done for centuries.

Hello, I said. What brings you here ? I asked.

The Green Card, said the Sphinx, sheepishly. Avoiding to meet my eyes.

And you Rayyan, asked the stone. To give me company, perhaps ?

No, I said. I am passing through. An alien, if you will!

The Sphinx was nervous. I could see.

A Legal Alien, I added hastily.

The Sphinx relaxed. Continued to stare..at nothing. Like for another few centuries.

Thanks guys as always.:salute:

49 Fantastic Photographers and Me

Lots of thanks to Loyd, Rayyan, Matt, Hermann, Steve and Leif for your kind words about my rail yard shots.

And Leif, the railway station is Østerport Station.

Allow me one last one, just for the sake of the light from the low winter sun

You saved the best one, eh? This is great; light, composition and story. Almost a whole little movie in one photo

Thanks a lot, Jorgen.
Don’t quite know about 'best one'.
I do see what you mean about content and story.
However, I still think I prefer the above backlit shot that Leif just re-posted, because of its classic, graphic qualities that somewhat reminds me of my long gone Tri-X / Rodinal / D76 etc. youth (despite being a colour photo).
Probably just getting sentimental here
