    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Every Spring, George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate organizes a "Revolutionary War Weekend".
Hundreds of people come together to re-enact not only battles, but also the way of life at that time. They camp for 3 days and 2 nights on the estate in period tents, wear period clothes at all times, cook food using period recipes, and so on.
This photo, taken in 2015, shows a type of bread made during George Washington's time. I believe they even use flour produced by a reconstruction of George Washington's Gristmill. The bread is available for sale to re-enacters as well as to visitors.

In Joshua Tree National Park. Can you see the dancer? This is a single exposure and converted with both Highlight and Shadow sliders maxed out. Further processing in Topaz software

Nikon D850, 28mm f1.8 G lens. Handheld and I am loving losing the tripod

    'discovery' - D850 / Zeiss Milvus 25

If you look closely, you'll see a young boy, I'd guess around 10, standing on a rock in the water. He'd occasionally lower himself so he could run his hands through the sea and explored every angle of view from that rock. He also kept his parents, who were safely on shore, up to date every time he saw something interesting. He was having the time of his life and it was fun to watch. I'd like to think that I (all of us) retain a bit of that sense of wonder...especially when making pictures. This is in Acadia National Park.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Recently got back into digital photography after spending a few years with large-format film and medium-format film. I'm happy to be back in the land of digital.

This was shot with the Nikon D850 and a Sigma Art 35mm, f/1.4.

Just looking back thru some of my D700 images. With only 12 megapixels (like my original Canon 5D), the D700 is a camera I will not part with. IMHO, they both punch above their class and are a real bargain on the used market.

Tonight's harvest from Joshua Tree National Park. Mars and the Milky Way from the White Tank Campground. Nikon D850, Zeiss ZF.2 21mm lens. You can only do one shot like this after dark because you can't see where to do a new composition. I'm happy with one keeper per outing though, this is about 45 minutes from my house. Such awesome rocks here.

Another recent one. Going back this weekend to shoot autumn colors. I must say this camera and lens combo produces extremely sharp and satisfying result.

BTW my 500mm F4 prime lens is some what sharper than my 200-500mm f5.6, both with 1.4 extender on Nikon D850....both on a tripod with a wimberly gimbal moving with the subject

This must be one of the most dramatic scenes I have seen in a while. There was a light drizzle of rain when I shot it, as the clouds were clearing the valley.

Here's a less dramatic view, but still very interesting in my opinion. I might go back next weekend to get even better autumn colors. This autumn has been "late".
