    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Yesterday was sunny and beautiful. I had plans to get out in the backyard at 4am to shoot the rising Milky Way. It didn't happen with clouds moving in by midnight and I have to wait another week or so before I can attempt an Astro Landscape scene.

I waited around until half an hour before sunrise and the grey day was just becoming apparent. Ugh...

Not to be deterred... I loaded up the Hasselblad with a roll of expired 220 Ektachrome film! I had to finish this roll so I can send out a half dozen rolls to be processed. These are test rolls to see how the rest of the 200 rolls I received will turn out. Hoping for the best!!

So, I walked around the lake while a few guys were launching their bass boat at the dock. Geese, as usual, were noisy and everywhere. The sun was nowhere to be seen and the beautiful colors of Spring were gone, where did they go? (&%$#$*&%$*#$!) Nevertheless, it was great fun shooting the slide film and alternating with the D850.

LOL... there was absolutely nothing that caught my eye for shooting. But, it was a great time to be out walking and feeling alive!

With apologies, I will do better next time but it was a good walk...

Then, you realize, that commute home through all the traffic became only a distant memory like so many others, as you lower the camera and just observe the colors and light in the sky.

    Welcome home.

    Paul,
    Magnificent image.
Did you choose to use your Nikon for this because of focal length of the lens?

    Thanks Stanley.

I tend to still lead with Nikon now. The D850 and 80-400 really is a great combo.
Capture 1 has a really nice conversion just wish they would develop a lens profile for the 80-400 and 200-500.

Yes, lack of many lens profiles on Capture One are a definite weakness for me.
I use a Phase One back on my Hasselblad H5X body; only a few Hasselblad lens profiles are available.

Nice! Although I would have preferred closing in a bit more on the subject. I have this lens, its amazing IMO, extremely sharp right out to the edges.

well, a bit from the small healthy walk today, I just have to give it a try, so forgiveness ladies and gentlemen..the distortions seems rather heavy in raw, and it will take a while before it will get supported in my C1 I'm afraid, so had to give it some rather pp. and added vigneting and so on, so you cant count on it as an expression of the "raw" vision of the lens, but any way...here it goes..the Z14-30/4S...

    Nikon Z7 with 14-30/4S at iso64 1/50 f9 14mm through C1pro12.0.3win

I went home to my parents and my childhood home this weekend. This area has a special place in my heart. It was here I first got interested in photography, some 12 years ago. I remember starting out with a Canon 400D and the 18-55 kit lens, shooting jpegs and being confused at everything. Oh, how the times have changed.

    4 masted schooner, 18 Cormorants - Z7 with Z 24-70 f2/8 S

I was recently looking for picture making subjects in and around the docks in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Nothing was catching my eye and as I was about to leave, I took one more look around (and up) and saw this. I'm not a bird expert but I think these are Cormorants. Whatever they are, I appreciated them posing for this picture. I was able to move on with a smile on my face.

This was a very nice evening. I went hiking with my mother. This is less than 20 minutes from my parents house. It is such a gorgeous place!

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Probably my favorite from this May, so far. I'm wondering how the print will turn out. Comments and criticisms are welcome.

Frederick, that's a wonderful picture. I bet it will print nicely especially if you can get some good cloud detail. Also, using a telephoto for landscape is a favorite technique of mine and is not used very often. I really like the perspective.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Joel

..nice cabin, splendid view, perhaps a greeting and vision from the past of which lifestyle to return to in order to climate-adapt?
