A welder at the shipyard.

I really like your photos from the shipyard Matt! Must have been really interesting to be there taking photos of the welder at work.

Had the privilege of shooting the HS senior portraits of a special young lady this week. We've known her since she was a pre-teen, and always considered her cute, but quiet and shy. We couldn't have been more wrong! When we started the shoot she really came out of her shell... she lit up the place like a carbon-arc spotlight. We had a blast. Here are some results.

Lloyd: Nicely done. These are all great. My favorites are these two. Great color and composition. I'm sure these made her happy!

Some say Uncle Ben is nice.
Who cares. So long as it is rice.
Cooked by one with a bit of spice.
Of course, the rice.
I agree... rice is nice; on any day.
Great shot. The play of the light on the green really takes my eyes there. It almost has a sense of motion. Great clouds, amazing color.
Rayyan: +1!

Rayyan: What the heck is going on here? Serious grimace; spilled drops of water; white suit; tattoos; and red flowers over the "mugger's" ear? Excellent capture.

Cheers, Matt

Nice series Matt. Is that reflection on this face mask that looks like flames? Very interesting.
Lloyd: Thanks! :D He's got racing flames painted on his face mask's neck guards. Way

Matt, like this one; as it makes it more rainy!
These are cool! ( is that correct ? ). Love the colors. Very participative shots.
Rayyan: Thank you, my friend! :D

Ultra Cool!
Steve: Thanks! :D

I REALLY like this image Matt and what you've done with it......I have no clue what kind of post processing is involved to achieve this look, but it really works here.

Gary: Thanks! :D I was just walking by the shipyard at lunch. There's a public overlook at the street end. Not so close, either; it was a 300mm lens.

The processing started life as a "Lightroom Preset" that I downloaded. I mix to "taste". If anybody wants it ... email me at [email protected] and I'll send it along.
(Corlan knows that unusual pp won't make a bad photo any better; but, it could reinforce the photographer's intent. Did I put words in your mouth?)

Gary: It's the June issue. A copy is 8" from my left hand. Your's is probably winding it's way North (the boat leaves here weekly :ROTFL:).

I'm always prone to excessive behavior! Here's an example. Set aside whether this is a "good photo", or not. Does the second pp make the truck seem older and more abandoned? Does it push the image back in time? Does it enhance the photo in any substantive way, or, is it just a different flavor?

Corlan: Thanks. Occasionally, I have to stray from the "path". Here's two less processed versions. I do like the way that guy on the right is caught looking.

Definitely more dramatic.
Not unlike HDR, bleach bypass processing has its merits. Depends on the subject i guess :)

Heard Rayyan over my shoulder: "Corlan my friend, why do you keep shooting with those plastic AF lenses when you got these beautiful sturdy Zeiss glass waiting in your bag?"
"Sure, but it's not always convenient and..."
"No excuses. Just use them a little more, you'll see. So good for portraits."
"If you say so..."

"Then, i have a lot of processing tricks and secrets for you."
"Not now, Rayyan, thanks. One thing at a time for my limited brain cells. I'll concentrate on the light and let see how the camera plays..."

D3X - Zeiss 50M - f5.6 - no processing AWB no color temp no filters - just basic RAW profile in ACR/LR

"See?"

Matt, Both Retro With Yes, "Different Flavors"! Leaning Towards The Second Image. I Think It Would Pop Nicely In A White & Black Matt & a Subdued Reddish Frame.:)

Rayyan , I Was In Arizona in 1993, Staying At My Brother-In -Laws Place. His Sister's Husband (Stay With Me Now) Was Friend's With The Owners Of "Uncle Bens Rice". They Took Us Up To Mr. Uncle Ben's Ranch Which Was Set In One Of The Mountains In Some Tiny Off The Map Town in AZ. Needless To Say It Wan An Amazing Place Filled With Horses, Chickens & A Sh*tload Of Dogs! I Have A Bunch Of Pics Of This Grand Abode & If I Ever Set Up My Scanner , I'll Post A Few.
Beautiful Image!;)
