Not - Greenwood, Mississippi, 1973
D500 and humble 35mm f1.8 DX

I sat down for a coffee and glanced up, WILLIAM EGGLESTON I shouted, well internally. Known as "Red Ceiling" but not titled that by Eggleston. If you are seeking colour inspiration he is the go-to man.
I have no doubt my shot will never make USD 363,750 as a print of this did in 2013: http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/...eenwood-mississippi-1973-5662453-details.aspx

Here is a link to a better copy: http://www.getty.edu/art/collection...ggleston-greenwood-mississippi-american-1973/

And one to an excellent interview with him: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2004/jul/25/photography1

Morning!

I picked up a D810 yesterday to see how it does with aurora as we are now in the season here, first go out and it performed pretty well, better actually than the 5DS I tried a couple of weeks ago.

Morning!

Seems a little quiet over here on the Nikon side, nobody having fun?!

I am trying to learn how to use a Nikon again after a few years away, very different to what I'm used to now. Wandering about when not working, just snapping away to see what I get and how things work, a quick shot from my afternoon walk, sun is low and winter is on the way here in the North.

Morning!

Some seriously crazy aurora here last night, biggest I've seen for a long time. A couple of quick shots..

And a nice corona too..

Jack,

He's Mat, I'm Matt. (Edit: Ok, this won't make any sense since you fixed it above. I stand by the next sentence, still.)

But they ARE damned impressive pictures, aren't they? At least no one will confuse our photographs. :D

Best,

M

El Lago de las Tortugas in the foreground with the La Concha mountain as a backdrop. This is a view you can experience in Nueva Andalucia, Spain.

Thanks Jack, Matt! Just lucky I'm far enough north to see this stuff fairly regularly! Thanks for the kind words though, much appreciated.

Enjoy your weekends!

Afternoon!

I think I need to paint my house next summer, it's looking scruffy!

And look at those trees in my garden, they need to be cut back a bit too, what a mess!
