Did not see any but did also not look specifically for it.

More nice aerials - thanks Uwe, I have a crush on the Zeiss 100 f/2 - on what shutter speed ? to avoid blur ?

I have to choose between the zeiss 100 and the 70-200 VRII, for portrait and candid shooting. Can't make muy mind..:)

To be honest my friend (and I have both) your choice is between two lenses which are both capable of very high levels of sharpness... the Zeiss a little more so, especially at wider apertures, but both so sharp that you wouldn't want to argue the difference at f5.6 for most purposes... but: the Zeiss has utterly gorgeous bokeh and colour and a lot of very hard to deal with fringing and the the Nikon has nice but not great bokeh and the fringing isn't an issue. So one is a wonderful but specialist lens and the other is a lot more useful.

The Zeiss fringing is usually well dealt with by the new features in LR4.1 release but sometimes as it corrects for the various aberrations including LoCas, it also changes the colours of other parts of the image that you want left alone.

If I had to choose only one it would be the Nikon, as long as I had one other 'look' lens in my collection.

Here's what I mean.

Shot wide open on an E with the Zeiss 100 Makro:

The original:

100% crop of original showing purple fringes in bokeh

100 crop of version treated in LR4.1 for fringing:

But look what it does to the rest of the colours!

Now you could make layers of these and blend them, or do all sorts of PP magic: but it's all extra work...

The LR4.1 defringe tool works well most often, but not always by any means, and though the lens loses a lot (sometimes all) of this fringing as you stop it down, part of the reason for having it is the lovely bokeh at wider apertures....

Tough choice...

Thanks Tim, I have CS5 and C1 for my RAW conversion and PP. Not the LR4 - you can't deal with the Zeiss fringing in any of them..?

I have the Leica 90 summicron as my look lens.. so 70-200 maybe serve me better..

Wouw it change the picture totally, all the zeiss look is gone ? Like the micro contrast is gone - or my screen twist my eyes..

Almost certainly. It is the lens I have with the combination of good AF, VR and optics that give me the highest proportion of really sharp shots on the E under normal use.

For my aerials the 70-200 is no option (too long).

This is my shooting position:

Shutter speed: 1/1600 - 1/2000 and f/5.0-5.6

Will try again the 105 Micro with VR at 1/1000. Have to wait a few months till I can join my pilot again.

The balance is:

1. Want to stay at f/4 - f/5.6
2. High shutter speed
3. ISO 100 to avoid noise (you need to open the shadows)

I did f/5.6 + 1/2000 and ISO200-320.

Too long - you have to stay inside cabin !!??

Ok, the VR will give you that ekstra..
