    Nikon makes 70-200/4 VR public

    Nikon | Imaging Products | AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR

    9 rounded aperture blades
    850g
    67mm filter
Slightly better than 1:4 max reproduction ratio

MTF looks excellent (the ones on the page are at f/4)

Should be a great little travel, hiking, and landscape lens. At 850g I doubt I'd get the tripod collar for it, so smart of Nikon to make it an optional accessory.

I know I will be buying one. I have been envious of Canon users for this lens for ages..

Now if Nikon would come out with a 100-400 f4.5-5.6. I miss my Canon 100-400. :-(

This is the most missed lens for me after switching from Canon. I loved to take this one with me when traveling. I am looking forward to getting one of these.

I'm going to be adding this to my D600/24-120VR as the longer travel lens complement. It looks like a great combo and whilst I was going to get another 70-200/2.8 VR II I really don't feel limited by the f/4 aperture given the capabilities of today's D600/D800 and I very seldom shoot at f/2.8 anyway.

A nice addition to the lens range.
