Question re polarizing filter

The turning action on my 77mm circular polarizer (B+W) is not very smooth. I would say that it could stand some lubrication. Is there anyway of doing this without risking lubricant getting between the layers of glass and totally screwing things up? Thanks

First try some compressed air in the seam between the two halves. Second, try some graphite lubricant or something similar, but nothing that atomizes in a spray. Graphite can be applied by squeezing the tube, also try cutting the end of graphite tube at a very small and tapered angle.
