The Nikon EN-EL15 battery is used in quite a few Nikon DSLR's, among them the D7xxx, D610, D750, D8xx and now the new D500.
If you own the D500, you may have noticed that some of your OEM EN-EL15 batteries drain rather quickly (as do third party batteries, if they work at all). In case you weren't aware, there are 2 types of Nikon EN-EL15 batteries: Li-ion01 (from approx 2010-2012) and Li-ion20 (2013 to present).
On the new D500, only the Li-ion20 type works well; while the older Li-ion01 type drains quickly. So, Nikon now offers a free exchange program that allows D500 owners to exchange old Li-ion01 battery for the newer Li-ion20. You need to supply a receipt for your D500 to get this free exchange.
