No surprises :D

The two recently announced lenses were available to try - DPReview posted their hands-on impressions with the 14-30mm f/4 S and with the 24-70mm f/2.8 S.

It appears that the other lenses from the roadmap were displayed under glass - some photos were posted in the DPReview Z forum (see https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/62367711 and especially https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/62367986). Get ready for some big lenses :D

In related news, Sony announced their first CFexpress card and reader - https://nikonrumors.com/2019/02/27/sony-announced-the-development-of-a-new-cfexpress-memory-card.aspx/.

I was also hoping for Cosina/Voigtlander lens announcements for the F/Z mounts, but all we got were some lens adapters...

In regards to the Sony memory card, it looks fantastic and well beyond my needs. I wonder why no one has just built a battery grip with an internal SSD drive. They're so small now, they could likely be built into the camera back as well.

Could there be power considerations?

Sure, always power considerations. However, battery tech has continued to grow at a crazy pace. There are 20k mAh power supplies that are able to fit in a shirt pocket and cost around $30. I suppose that they could be small SSDs that are primarily for back up. Lot's of possibilities so it'l be fun to see what is coming around the corner.

At CP+ 2019 Nikon also showed a beta version of the new firmware due in May. Head to Nikon Rumors at https://nikonrumors.com/2019/02/28/cp-show-report-eye-af-for-the-nikon-z6-and-z7-cameras-video-demos.aspx/ for a few short videos of the Eye AF feature in action.

Also at Nikon Rumors, a post about ProGrade Digital announcing the development of 2 series of CFexpress 1.0 cards (Gold and Cobalt), to be available to consumers after the first cameras start supporting them (either through firmware updates, or through new camera releases). I guess the ball is now in Nikon's court...

Meanwhile, the folks from the CompactFlash Association announced the CFexpress 2.0 standard with speeds up to 4GB/s (https://nikonrumors.com/2019/03/01/the-compactflash-association-announced-cfexpress-2-0-specification-with-up-to-4000mb-s-maximum-theoretical-performance.aspx/) - although that speed would require bigger cards, which will not fit into the Z6/7.
