This should be interesting!:)

Mine:

D6

70-200 2.8
200-500
200 2.0

That's it!

What is yours?

Tough one. Right now, it'd be a D850 w/ ART 24-35, 50/1.4G, 20/1.8G, 105/2.8G Macro, and the 300PF.

But, that could all change when I get my iPhone 11 Pro Max :ROTFL::ROTFL::ROTFL::ROTFL::ROTFL:

My favourite (and only) Nikon:

For the rest no dream NIKON kit, which has nothing to do with their performance and/or price. I've tried to like them but somehow the bodies always feel wrong in my hands. Very personal (and probably a minority) feeling, but again confirmed two weeks ago when holding a Z6, best EVF I've seen and nice files, but somehow the "feeling" wasn't there on the body shape.

Haha Dave your ideal lenses are pretty much mine too.

The Z6 and 24-70 2.8s I recently acquired are working out wonderfully. Just need to add a 70-200 2.8 and a fast 50/85mm (come on 50/85 1.2s) and I'd probably be all set. While we're daydreaming, I'd also love to add a 200-500mm, a 200mm f2, and a 14mm f1.8 for use with the Z6 and D810A.

My only issue with the Z6 is that my wife picked it up and realized she loved it too. Looks like we'll be selling her D800/50mm 1.4G at some point in the future and picking up another Z6.

Stan has convinced me that the 200-500 is a great value and high-performing lens! The price is not bad at all.

At the moment I'm really happy with my D500, 16-80mm kit lens (surprisingly good), Tamron 90mm macro, Nikkor 70-200mm f4.0 and 300mmPF.

I allows me to travel reasonably light, and capture everything from city travel to wildlife - limitations accepted.

Dream kit - probably the to be announced new Z8 with a set of fixed primes : 24mm, 35mm and 85mm or 105mm.

One can but dream....

No dreams. Reality at the moment is the Z7 and 50 1.8S. Waiting for the native 70-200 f2.8S.
FWIW, I’m shooting aspect ratio 5:4 to hold down file size a bit.

Took awhile, but I found the two Nikons like yours that are languishing in a separate file drawer.:)

I should start using one of them as they were really fun to use in the past!

My Z7 cameras with a set of Z f/1.2 S primes at the same size and weight as my Z f/1.8 S primes.

Well, you did say dream Nikon kit.

Here's what I'm aiming for within this year:
D780
F80 with AA battery grip
20mm f/1.8
35mm f/1.8
60mm f/2.8 Micro
105mm f/2

That's around 3,500 grams. Very suitable for travel, industrial and portraits.

Z7
14-30/4S
24-70/2.8S (can't afford it - so therefore...and for travel 24-70/4S)
70-200/2.8S, announced today, (cant afford it either, so I just stick to the FX 70-200/4G ED)
thats it...

But since we are talking dreams here...

D780
28mm f/1.4
58mm f/1.4
105mm f/1.4

$7,700

3 kg inklusive 2 batteries

Maybe better after all to go for something perfect, something that is hard to get but not impossible. Back in 1974, I had an OM-1 with 28mm f/3.5, 50mm f/1.8 and 135mm f/3.5. I lived with that body and those lenses for a couple of decades. There's no reason why I shouldn't repeat that, only on a higher level.

Interesting question.

If cash were no object:

Z6 + FTZ adapter
2x 128gb XQD cards
2x batteries
14-30
24-70 (f4 for weight considerations)
24/1.8
35/1.8
FTZ adapter for:
105 macro
pf500
As time goes on I'd also add a Z7+2x128XQD+2xBatteries

I only wish the FTZ adapter had a screw focus capability because my dream Nikkor lens is the 200mm macro. Always wanted one, never had a Nikon camera at the same time as the desire to own one!

I am very heavily invested in the Fuji system right now and I need to keep with it for work reasons. However, later in the year/early next year that might all change and I can decide then what I really want to shoot with.

BTW, I would not be surprised if Canon overtake Nikon in the mirrorless market.
