Nikon D6

It seems odd that we have not seen posts here about the D6. Apparently some people have posted reviews somewhere, I forget which ones I saw and where but has anyone on this forum actually bought a D6?

I don't really understand why there are apparently no D6 users here.:banghead:
Jørgen (J), walking into camera shop, car parked outside: - Just hand it over!
Camera shop owner (O): - Hand over what?
J: You know what I mean, the D6.
O: Oh that... the new Nikon antique.
J: Yes, no need to wrap it up, I'll start using it right away.
O: You don't mind if I keep that car in exchange, do you?
J: But it's new!
O: Exactly, and you can pay the difference in price within the next 36 months

There are good reasons why he drives an AMG and I drive a Mazda :ROTFL:

Wow! That is a great review and wonderful images!

Thanks, Joe, :)
Great review, but my ears fell off halfway, so have to watch the rest today. Boy, that man talks a lot. Photos look fantastic, but I have a feeling that he could have made great photos using a shoebox with a piece of expired Kodachrome taped to the inside :salute:

Well, now...:)

The next question is the tough one. How large can one realistically print an image from the new D6? I am presuming that the sensor is the same as the D5, so there should be quite a few who can answer the print question.

Yes, my question comes from my experience with several 50mp Medium Format cameras.

As for the camera itself, it is almost too much. I mean that in a good way, while acknowledging that the manual itself probably weighs more than the body... LOL.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!:)

I see Steve Perry has been mentioned a couple of times. His online review of the D6 is also now up on his website http://https://backcountrygallery.com/.

As a fellow wildlife/bird photographer, I rate him very highly, not only as a photographer but as a teacher too. There is no-one that touches him on Youtube when it comes to reviews of equipment (invariably Nikon) for wildlife photography.

Another Nikon photographer that I rate highly, due to his long term testing of the equipment in the field is Canadian Brad Hill. His write-ups can be found here (which includes the D6 in comparison with the D5) http://http://www.naturalart.ca/voice/blog.html. He doesn't go into as much depth as Steve Perry but his experience and conclusions stand up to scrutiny.

Cheers,
Duff (who is not Steve Perry or Brad Hill incognito).
