Impressive shots of industrial decay! Looks like a scene from an apocalyptic movie or video game.

I'm curious about the strange "vibration" feeling towards the center of the second one. It almost feels as if the images were'nt in register. Maybe a Photomatix artifact?

I agree something is off, I like using photoshop better,

I may have chosen the wrong shots...

Thanks for asking, doing well but still busy with little time left to do my own fun work lately unfortunately.

Here are a couple from earlier in the summer. I think this is an old abandoned railroad hotel located on the Jefferson River, MT. If so it might have been a point of departure to Yellowstone via stage coach back when it was a real adventure. D3 & 24 TS/E lens.

    +1.5 at least.

Photos like these make me realise that I don't need a new camera. I need more skill and more time.

It renders the OOF areas beautifully. Do you recall what aperture you used here?

Just got a new Nikkor. Well, it looks like new, but it's the next to last version of the classic 105/2,5 whose optical design remained unchanged from 1972 until the production ceased. Not quite the stellar quality that Bjørn Rørslett claims, but still very good. Here's a shot to evaluate bokeh and colour.

Beautiful shot, Arne. I love that lens... bought mine in 1980, and still have it today.

I was inspired by Arne's beautiful shot. I remembered I own the same lens and decided to try it. Unfortunately, it's raining today. But that's one nice thing about the D2Xs, I feel pretty comfortable in moderate weather. I was also amazed at how much lighter the lens is than my more modern Nikon zooms. I think I'll use this lens more often. Thanks Arne!

Thanks Lloyd! A couple more from my rainy walk. I really have to try and get off the property and out amongst some people! Leaves and flowers are starting to get to me.

The last rose, with the 105 at f2.5. Leaves are at maybe 5.6.

Your leaf shots are beautiful, Tim.
And the Nikkor 2.5/105 seems to be an excellent optic, even wide open. I think it has always had a very good reputation among those owning it.

Thank you Bondo. I tend to forget about it, and it sits on the shelf. On the smaller sensor in my Nikon it's a bit longer than I remember, but still a contender after 25+ years.

Those are beauties, Tim. I'm not sure I be able to hold still enough to get all that rose in focus wide open. I'm going to have to get mine out and fired up. I loaned it to my uncle in Virginia... just hope it comes home free of fungus. He was a Leica shooter for years, and offered to loan me some of his old, longer glass. I was shocked when it arrived, the elements were almost covered with fungus... all three lenses were beyond recovery. What a waste.

That is a shame. I wonder how many fantastic lenses are being wasted, forgotten or ignored in a box in the attic. It does seem like a waste.

Yesterday was the day for the annual Buffalo Races in Chonburi. It's a great event with lots of things going on. Not all the jockeys made it to the finish though...

Another water buffalo, this one with the jockey in the correct position. Sorry about the watermark on the previous one. Paranoia strikes again It doesn't matter, does it? Photos get stolen anyway...

This one's even more intense... contestant here is definitely focused (on his goal)!

(look at the good side of things: you want one of your pictures stolen on a, say, MS worlwide tv campaign... now you can afford that cosy balinese island )
