Thank You Lloyd. The 2nd shot is a song/set list of a friend of mine who is in a band. 3rd shot is the Noct at 1.2 doing a little magic...

Nice concert shots, Jason. I particularly like the second one. Have you tried it in b&w?

Forgot to mention that my Nutcracker series this year was processed using the just released Bibble 5. Very impressed with its speed and performance. Converted the entire series of photos (405 in total) in just over 11 minutes (1.65s per shot) on my 8-core Mac Pro and that included Noise Ninja on about two dozen shots.

Etrigan... wow. That's the stuff I need to learn!

Jorgen.. I kinda like the color. My B&W conversions are really simple in Aperture, but I'll take a look.

Viablex, where are you finding such ruinous goodness?? Great stuff!

Not much photographic merit here, but some very competent golfers. At least I got them all in one frame (and the battery of my flash was empty on the next one )

    D80 with Tamron 17-50 @ 50mm and f/7.1

PS. Yes, there's one player less on the European team. The European Captain, Colin Montgomerie, is playing as well.

Super nice as always... the silver tones in the second one are fantastic!
And lot of memories associated with the multi-record charger Westinghouse phono...

Btw, analog seems to work just fine for your work, does'nt it?

Well they're all there, all smiling, nice colors... don't have the experience but it always seemed perillous to get a good picture in a crowd of photographers with all the strobes and the excitation.

Can't wait to see the action ones... good luck!

It's a somewhat intimidating experience, fighting for a position among photographers with clusters of 1D and D3 cameras around their necks, each of the bodies costing more than I paid for all my gear
Then there are those long lenses....

You're not one to get intimated easily, and once again you'll show them all that price and er, size, don't matter.

Steve, as nice as this series is (it is indeed, esp the second shot), it's more difficult for me to relate to it than say, the previous series above -which was indeed so good that it's hard to match anyways. Maybe it has something to do with the wider lens and my personal taste for closer focus... what lens(es) were used on the that series on top of this page btw?

Corlan, it's funny you say that. As sharp as the 14-24 lens is , I sold it for your reasons stated above. It is a tremendous lens for landscape though.
There were 3 lenses used on the set at the top of the page. 1st pic of the boy & dog was 200VR 2. 2nd pic of the music score sheet was the Sig 50 1.4. 3rd shot of the eagle was the 58 Noct 1.2. Thanks!

Well, that's three piece of glass i guess a lot of us could easily live with
(esp the first and last cited... and since i had guessed the first, maybe i eventually deserve one of those )

Boy, am I out of synch. Lots of great photos posted. Thanks everybody for sharing.

Steve: The boy and dog shot is unique. It's a departure from your recent repertoire. The tight framing and the warm tone make it seem old, comfortable and familiar. I bet it elicits a positive, maybe unconscious, response from every male because we were that boy (Jungian archetype?).

The zoo/frog shots are just plain cool and a logical progression in your work following the MMA photos. What's next?

Corlan: Very nice orange. Sensual, as oranges go.

    Cheers,

Matt: Great "ruin porn". Thanks for sharing. It hasn't really been available in the Seattle area since the 70's and 80's. It's exotic like Jorgen's Thailand and Osman's Istanbul. Less populated, though; except by the mind. Cheers.

Just back from the great, big Golf Tournament half an hour ago. Still dumping files down to my hard-disk, but I couldn't wait, so I opened one of the first ones. This is Henrik Stenson. Swedish guy, and ranked as number eight in the world, so I guess he's rather good

    S5 with Nikkor 300mm f/4 and Tamron 1.4x TC @ f/5.6

Pretty funny to take golf photos with the S5. Every time someone hits the little, white ball, there was an orgy of click, clickedeeclick, click click around me. Unfortunately, the S5 can only say click, and before it repeats itself, the ball is already somewhere else, and the player has gone for lunch

One photo usually does it though

Steve: The boy and dog shot is unique. It's a departure from your recent repertoire. The tight framing and the warm tone make it seem old, comfortable and familiar. I bet it elicits a positive, maybe unconscious, response from every male because we were that boy (Jungian archetype?).

The zoo/frog shots are just plain cool and a logical progression in your work following the MMA photos. What's next?

Corlan: Very nice orange. Sensual, as oranges go.

    Cheers,

    Thanks Matt.
Insightful comments above, by the way

As expected you're doing a fine job for this "first attempt"

Like the way you inserted the here, it looks like he's playing half seated... or/and gives a "tutorial like" perspective on the stance.

Corlan: Gotta say, I really, really like that shot of the fruit. Great b/w, just beautiful, in fact. And excellent use of negative space.

Leica 77: Good to see you back around. Very fun shots; I particularly like the first one. And Corlan nailed it, with all the cold and snow around here, those shots make me realize that I need a vacation to somewhere warm!!

Jorgen: Love that moment you got there. His utter concentration (and, unlike me, he keeps his head down!); ball in the air, etc. And wonderful color. wow.

Thanks guys. The regular caddies of the golf club were there as well, helping out with the event. Skin colours are a bit off here, mainly due to excessive use of make-up

I don't know how you suffer through these tough assignments, Jorgen!

I guess someone's got to do it?
