Joining the praise here for the whole series and expecting to see more from this fun but strenuous exercise... in the meantime, hopefully the flu is a benign one.

You are too kind guys. Thanks a lot.

Love your fishing boat and flags, Steen. Reminds me of great holidays in Denmark through the years, summer as well as winter.

Now, off to bed, hoping that the flu or cold or whatever will be magically gone tomorrow

Shot this at a wedding over the weekend at max ISO on the D3. Ran it through Noiseware and SilverEfex Pro to try and salvage what I could. Any suggestions on how to process this kind of shot will be appreciated.

Steen, the duck (?) strip is fun, kinda reminds me (on a lesser level i must admit) of your hal-of-fame and daughter favourite "cat & pigeon" one ... which i still show on a regular basis to family and friends.

Particularly like the the flags shot btw. Got a nordic, modern Kurosawa feel to it.

    Steen, Agree with Lloyd...Cool 50's Sci-Fi Effect!

David, I love the light, grain & expression. The only thing i would do is crop out the lady on the right & clone the womans head coming out of the man's shoulder, in my humble opinion. The shot is Excellent!

    TR, Great Color & Comp!

Geez! You guys must live in different time zones.

Steen: The goose on ice series is priceless. But, i'd hang the photo of the flags on my wall. It seems calming and stimulating at the same time. Very zen. (Just read Corlan's post. They do look like samurai battle flags. Beginning of Ran?)

DavidK; Have you tried some of the B & W presets in Siver Efex? I know it's not de rigueur, but maybe it's a Tri-X 400 kind of photo. (Steve: good idea about the crop)

Lensbabies, slashers, sleeping nieces, Vigeland (?) sculpture, 1920's German movie posters, roses, and an elegant close up of a camera manual and reading glasses. Do i sense a theme? No! Very eclectic, bizarre and enjoyable posts. I'm going to bed. Cheers.

Jason: Priceless shot of your niece and the whippet. The farewell D200 rose is very nice as well.

Corlan: Some impressive narrow DOF on that battery check shot. Nice!

Nonono... my "Huh" was just being amazed at all the good stuff on here and that even tho I've been shooting since I was 7, I still have soooooo much to learn!

I found a great spot for a Chicago skyline shot. Now I just need the weather to cooperate a bit for me.

    Steen, magnificent scale! Well done!

Corlan, at first i couldn't see the small photo & assumed it was a verse from the bible, but once clicked upon & saw that it was the magnification of the "almighty battery check", i got a real Charge out of it!

BTW...Shallow under this context is Excellent!

Re: Even More Fun Pictures with Nikon

    S5 with Nikkor 500mm f/8 Reflex

I found that 500mm on a DX body was rather useful on the golf course, but manual focusing can be a strain on the eyes after a few hours. So I checked the price of the Nikkor 500mm f/4.0, but found that $8,000 and around 4 kilograms may be a bit too much at the moment, and the next 20 or so years.

The Sigma 500mm f/4.5 is a steal of course, at less than $5,000 and just over 3 kilograms, but no VR and no AF with TC. But for less than $2,000, I can get the 700g Sony 500mm f/8, also a mirror lens, and an A700 body (with VR, or SSS), which would also give me a platform for the Zeiss 135mm f/1.8. If I can live with the nasty bokeh of the mirror lens.

Sometimes, like in the photo above, I can live with the nasty bokeh, and if I'm going to continue shooting sports, running around golf courses and car racing circuits, the weight difference would be very noticeable.

    Choices, choices....

Jorgen, I think you'd make any lens look good. Nice shot and all that green makes me jealous!

    Another playtime nugget:

Thanks, Tim, I'm trying to get as much as I can out of every lens. Getting it right with a lens that most people have given up on is all the more satisfying

Those nugget shots are ultra cool. That's another one for the wall.

Here's one more with the Reflex.

Jorgen: Even more great golf shots.

The weather here is rainy and crappy, gray and depressing, unseasonably warm and wet. Here's some wet grizzley bears. Cheers.
