Re: Ricoh GXR - Show your images

    Hi Paul, thank you:

It is in the core of Toronto and is now called Brookfield Place, but no one can get used to that, so they refer to it by the original name, BCE Place. This structure is just part of the complex and is called the Allen Lambert Galleria.

    From Wikipedia

The Allen Lambert Galleria, sometimes described as the "crystal cathedral of commerce", is an atrium designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava which connects Bay Street with Sam Pollock Square. The six story high pedestrian thoroughfare is structured by eight freestanding supports on each side of the Galleria, which branch out into parabolic shapes evoking a forest canopy[4] or a tree-lined avenue because of the presence of building facades along the sides of the structure.

It's a beautiful place to photograph because of the light.

Here is a shot of our French friend's grandson on a rare sunny day. This must be the lousyest summer of all recent lousy summers.

Thanks, Keith. It's a beautiful piece of architecture (to my eye: our heir apparent and I don't see eye-to-eye on the subject of carbuncles).

It seems to take its cue from the gothic cathedral - webs of structure allowing the light in. I like the way it allows the old building to thrive, too.

I'm intrigued to see it for myself one day!

Taken at the Chruinnaght (Manx = 'Gathering') last month. The in-focus player also plays tenor sax for my band, and has recently passed grade 8: quite a feat of dedication!

    As always, C&C welcome!

I made a photo of a garage by the marina in Peel in 2003ish that had a look just like this one. I wonder if I can find it ... It was made with the Hasselblad 903SWC and I don't think I scanned that entire roll. I wonder where the film might have gotten to ...

Hi Keith, thanks for the kind words.

I was standing there shooting 1 or 2 runners/cyclists passing by. Just when I was about to leave, I saw one group of runners approaching. So I just stayed there and waited for them to enter the sense

This is from today inside the cathedral of Chartres. Magnificent building. No tripod allowed and inside it is extremly dark. This is with the selftimer on a bench.

Passing the Pyrenees at the boarder to Spain over a small pass at 2300 m. I saw these cows and horses. An exeptional sight. (For the horses look at the Sony NEX thread.)

Well, that subject Jack brought up, Copenhagen, made me miss my beloved inner town a lot. So just to see if I was able to do some snapshots or not, I had to go there and have a cup of coffe and feel the city. Have to do it more often. But I have not yet gone into uploading full-size some place etc., and I'm obviously not making friend with that function, being able to paste the picture from the attached file into the text. Some advice needed, please...and this is just the M-module with my beloved 21mm Elmarit at 5.6 or 8.0 and ISO 1405 and 2167.

These are from a little town called Sahagún. Ignorantly I drove right into town and I got completly stuck with my big van in one of the narrow streets. It was marketday and everyone had come to town by car.
Just by slowly and gently pushing I got through.
We came to see an old Romanesque church, but it was impossible to photograph without a lot of cars on it.

An image for a very quiet thread. May be Ricoh needs a 24mp FF Leica M module to get some more attention.

This one from a village near the French Pyrenees.

Thank you Paul! I don't remember exactly which village. I think it was Bassoues or one of the villages nearby. Bassoues is a very nice little village with a lovely big farmerstyle
    restaurant.

Nice one, with the diagonal lines.

Re: Ricoh GXR - Show your images

Yes, the thread's has been quiet lately with me out playing with film and everyone obsessing about all the new goodies coming in from Photokina. Thanks for keeping up the images Michiel!

I brought the X2 and GXR fitted with A12 50 to the Sierras for a wedding this past couple of days. Both work well, once you understand the limitations of their AF and flash capabilities. Manual fous and an RF flash trigger are simply much more consistent.

The GXR M or the M9 would have done better for me, but eh? I was having fun experimenting. Not my wedding, not a job. :-)

I see where you are heading, Keith. Looks so nochalant but the shadowlines on all floors, the chairs, the colors and post processing make it an intriguing composition.
Does remind me of old polaroids.

Thanks Michiel - yes, you saw what I was aiming for. Tried at first in B & W, but this treatment worked better for me.

No Merril yet, waiting for the 28mm, but the wife is paying close attention to me. I'm trading my K5 for the K5IIs though - same sensor as the A16 zoom, I think.

I'm in Toronto for the weekend, and I bought my GXR kit. Can't believe what fun this camera is and how versatile. Here are a couple of pictures of the tower, first with the A16 zoom, second with the M mount and Minolta 75-200.

I have to think Ricoh will announce something in the next two weeks.

Ok, that means I have to load up the Baldix next and do some 6x6 street shooting. :-) I promise you, it will go slowly. ;-)

[QUOTE=dunders;450801]Michiel: I love the latest Facade! Where was it?

I've been away and busy of late. No holiday snaps processed yet, but I remembered this from a street shoot in May:

Wonderful atmosphere and mood Keith! (Yes the "ordinary" 28mm do a rather good job!)
