Nice to work with the Nokton again. It is a pitty that it will not be made anymore by Cosinon.

That's an intense and delightful photo, Michiel!

Yes, the Nokton 50mm f/1.5 ASPH is quite special. Steve Gandy (CameraQuest.com) still has a few new ones left in stock. It's one of those lenses I am very glad I spent the money for.

I still want that Zeiss 25mm too. =8^O

    Thank you Godfrey!

May be there will be an updated one with the new M mount, I hope.

Very curious to see the 25 Biogon in action on your Leica. Don't see that lens used very much in the Leica thread.

Re: Ricoh GXR - Show your images

^ I know. It's a little curious as I seem to recall seeing a bunch of photos made with the Zeiss 25 and M9 proclaiming it "one of the best lenses ever."

Haven't decided completely whether or when to go for it. I'm a little tapped out from buying the Bessa III, so possibly next year. I'm pretty happy with the equipment I have now, all told.

more lovely photos. too many to keep up.

Just had the GXR out for a copy session ... I recorded all the holiday cards and notes we received for the archives - the A12 50mm Macro makes the GXR into an excellent copy camera. :-)

Hey you all! I took my GXR-M to Russia this summer, it worked great. This is with A12-M and Leica 50mm Summarit, heavily cropped. This is the view from the river boat.

Thanks Michiel and Godfrey - it's good to be back in the Ricoh thread, after some time with the Pentaxians.
I'm looking forward to some Cuban facades and Cuban cars with the Schierbeek touch.
Godfrey - I have been inspired by your activity with film and have followed suit. With me on this trip I have my answer to the Sony RX-1 which is the Olympus Stylus Epic full frame - at $25, a bit cheaper, and it's weatherproof

Here is a camera jpeg from the A16 zoom.

Took the Elmarit 135 out to test again, because I am doubting to take it with me to Cuba. But it is big and heavy. I think I might as well take the C/Y Zeiss 80-200 with an adapter. Not heavyer but bigger but more versatile for when you need the longer reach.

Anyway, here is the good old harbour again.

    Hi Michiel

Figuring out what gear to take with you is onerous. Usually I tend to err on the excess, but it's frustrating to see a potential and not have the right lens for it.
Just make sure you have your facade kit

Tucson is full of large blocks of color - but black and white treatments of this old architecture are also effective

I like this one of the ship, M.

I agree with you that the 135 lenses tend to be bulky, that's why I love the teensy M-Rokkor 90/4. It's a no-brainier to carry it along, even if you only use it a little bit.

I'm planning my trip to the UK in March-April now. I have a wedding to attend that I know I'll want to shoot at a bit with digital, I'd love to carry the SWC and/or the Bessa III too. But that's already more than I want to deal with. Some thought is required. :-)

Re: Ricoh GXR - Show your images

Thanks Godfrey, yes I have the older version with Bril (I screwed it off) Elmarit, it is huge.

I think I know what I take; Sigma DP2m and GXR with VC15, Zeiss Biogon 25, 50 Summicron and 90 Elmarit. (may be the Jupiter-12 35/2.8, I like the colours it produces )
All nice and small. We plan to travel also a lot with busses/trains over the island, so that's why.

That is a lot of bulk with the Hasselblad + lenses included. May be no problem if you don't have to move around much. You know how it is; often you end up using one set up for the day, at least in my case

@ Keith; Love the last two, great colourfull compositions!

My only Hassy is a SWC, so no interchangeable lenses. It is pretty compact, except that it's a great camera to use with a tripod ...

Oh, I'll likely take just the GXR and three lenses (21, 40, 90) or M9 and similar (35, 50, 90). That's a pretty tight kit, did me very well in 2011.

One question to owners of GXR.
When you set image ratio 1:1 can you view it as such on the EVF and on the screen ?

Just 100% of the image; the sides past 1:1 are black.

Thank Kit, its exactly what I am interested in, I frame square a lot, a key feature for me.

Back from Cuba. No usable internet to upload anything from there.
Here are some of my first results. Loads of files of this fascinating and tiring country.
I will probably overload you and bore you to death with Cuba photos the coming weeks.

Not to been seen on these photo's yet, but I am really glad I brought the VC super wide Heliar 15/4.5 for my facade shots in the narrow streets of Cuba.
These are all from Gibara, a small town on the NW coast.

(I will also be posting on Cuba on the Sigma DP2m thread)

Michiel, your shots have reminded me why I love the Biogon on the GXR so much. It has to be my favourite combination. I was going to take only the Fuji XP-1 and OMD on holiday this year and not bother taking the GXR, but I now think I cannot leave the GXR behind.

Looking forward very much to seeing more of your Cuba shots here and on the other thread. It is a place most photographers would love to visit, including me.

    All the best.

It looks like Cosina has gone into production with the Nokton 50mm f/1.5 ASPH for M-Mount now!

Very pretty, classic 1950s Nokton styling. Supposedly the lens formula is the same ... I'd hate to see that changed, the LTM version is so darn good.

I was out shooting with the GXR this morning, with Nokton 40/1.4 and Color Skopar 28/3.5. Been a while since I took it for a walk. A photo or two soon...
