But that was obvious, wasn't it? Since I am neither airy nor lovely nor crisp More like leftovers from last Thursday's dinner actually. And still people expect me to perform work on a regular basis. What on earth are they thinking

Actually, I think this GAS attack might be smittin'....I prescribe a curative G1 for you, and a prophylactic one for the significant other. Red is a strong, forceful colour; blue is restful and sympathetic.

Another view of the Mournes, though not from the shore:

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Cecil and Ian are discussing the shores:

    HI Bertie
Is that Cecil or Ian clutching the pipe to his chest . . . looks dangerous to me!

    Here's one from the Walkman:

It's the Cornish Coast near Lands End (taken with the 24-70 Zeiss). In case you're asking, yes, we did go swimming in the cove around the corner, and yes, the Atlantic in November is a little chilly!

This is where the space-ships land:

Both of these taken with the 70-300 G lens

Ian gets to play with the pipes and the stone spreader, Cecil sits in air conditioned luxury in the digger -- both Oly 520, 14-42, ISO 400 f:5.6

Cecil isn't CJ McIvor -- that's Colin. And on the digger it says 'CJ McIvor and Son' which is interesting, as Colin's son is only three - I don't know how active he is in the business

I'm impressed with the colours from the Walkman/Play Station....specially how it turns pink into red in the hunting pictures..and with the spacecraft...any little green men about?

    Now it can be told...

I took this shot a couple of weeks ago, but didn't reveal it because I'd entered it in the monthly contest on the LUG. The pictures don't have to be taken with Leicas. Last month's theme was "three." Well, I got an honorable mention. The photo was taken with the E-510, and the older 40-150 f/3.5-4.5, as long as it would go, wide open, at 1/30. Ain't image stabilization grand? Anyway, this scene probably won't ever be displayed behind the altar of a cathedral, but it's fun...

A detail shot at 50% res from the new Panasonic Lumix G1 with kit lens. Not bad for a "prosumer" kit package. I also added some G1 landscape shots to my gallery, http://www.schophoto.com/gallery/list.php?exhibition=10

That Ian is on a grand scale . . . is it because he's stuck the pipe down his trousers?

incidentally, are the hunting Pinks pink in Ireland, they're certainly scarlet around here.

Thank you Vivek. I first batch process the raw files with SilkyPix and export tif files for import into Lightroom. In Lightroom I make minor adjustments to contrast, capture sharpen, and export jpegs for the web at 50% of original file size. I hope that Lightroom will have support for the G1 raw files in the next update.

Carl, I thought to use Sikypix in a similar manner. The interface seems kludgy, and it is quite slow compared to Lightroom, so I don´t want to take the time to learn it for just a month or so (until LR supports the raw´s, that is..).

So, I thought I´d process them with the default settings, and then export them as tif. But 16 bit tifs are HUGE! And, with all tonal control done on the tifs, I fear that 8 bit isn´t enough. If only Silkypix could convert to dng....

So, I´m very eagerly waiting for Adobe to update!

Per, I also hope we don't have to wait too long for the Lightroom and/or Adobe DNG converter updates. Pity that Panasonic didn't use DNG for their G1 file format.

    I second that.

Lili, I had a long period when I couldn´t decide whether I should go for the G1 or for the E520 two lens kit. Finally, it was the G1, but I must say that seeing your images with these kit lenses prolonged my decision process a LOT

Now, how about getting yourself a G1 and show us all what can be done with it in competent hands?

Brian and Per, thanks so much!
Brian, that was shot jpeg. I did three shots, playing with settings. This is the first using the evaluative metering, no compensation, no PP.
I was fortunate in that the scene and lighting fell just right.
Per, the G-1 will, sadly, have to wait a while.
Until then though I get the play with the Oly more

Sorry, there seems to be a problem with linked images from pbase - the image above is much softer than that posted.

Looks like there's two versions on your pbase with the same name, but the one shown here (the last one) is sharper than the other.

Lili, that's a great shot of the faris wheel, I really like the composition.
