New SPP 5.3.2 for DP2M apparently takes care of banding

or at least helps. Those with the cameras, download/install the latest and try. I am going to check on some shots later tonight and look for the difference.

Preliminary conclusions - small banding seems virtually gone for reasonable processing. Bigger banding can still be there but it's improved (that's hard to eliminate completely if it's big).

Color splotches (magenta's, green areas) in shadow/darks, are still there.

Still a big step forward. Banding could make a shot quality wise seem like taken with a cheap or defective camera.

The bigger banding and color splotches you mention are ISO > 400 and up, correct?

Somebody on DPR says the following. I have no idea how much of a problem this is:

" ...but the most important problem they have to fix is the green/magenta blotches problem. If they cannot fix it, the Foveon is dead. It does not only show up in HIGH ISO images, but also quite prominent in high contrast scenes which affects landscape photography."

I haven't seen any of this in my landscapes, but I only shoot at ISO 100.

I would say examine several landscape shots and see for yourself. For the most part, I don't think this is an issue at ISO 100 and still somewhat non intrusive at ISO 200, as long as you are not doing shadow recovery (somewhat heavy).
