Kind of you to say so Paul. Like my family, friends and myself, we all leave scars and blotches, have highs and lows, sometimes produce and sometimes do not, most of all, sometimes we all surprise each other with our resilience, fortitude, creativity and tolerances, it allows characters to shine through, sometimes as stars on the worlds stage, unprhttp://forum.getdpi.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.pngedictability is accepted, , what I expect from a camera will never come close or be as enjoyable. I see many of those perceived failings in the Merrill's , which I find very comforting.

From my experience, their are many who'd dismiss and trash the above images, but I find myself, not looking for that psychotic state in an attempt in finding perfection, in fact the complete opposite.

Fantastic portrait! Skin tone tonality & texture can't leave me indifferent. Where do we see more images from the shoot?

I agree and I put it down to the fact that often people forget it is the content and the photographer that make the image - not the camera.

If a Sigma DPxM or DPQx makes you inspired to take photographs then it has done its job regardless of its technical characteristics.

    Just my two cents

This piece of metal is exposed to air once every 30 years, when they drain the lake for barrage maintenance. The lake itself is so full of tourists right now that it is impossible to make a proper snap of the place.

A general comment, not really specific to the DP3M:

These last posts make me jealous because you all seem to have such a good eye for potential subjects.

Let me expand a little: anyone can go to the Grand Canyon, select 'P' mode, point the camera anywhere and get stunning images. But just to wander out into an ordinary garden . . .

So, this is a general "like" for all of you.

I remember that someone told Sigma merrill camera don´t fit portrait photography. I believe that Merrill cameras are best for anything if you can use it.

    They don't fit portrait photography.

If you go deeper in the technique you'll see that a "simple" bayer camera is better suited for this. The best foveon for portrait was the Fx17-78-F13D sensor and the new best "foveon" is the Quattro, now. The Merrill is best for details but not for human skin. Ofc you can do it but it is masochism IMHO. And your photo actually show post processing which is less needed with "soft" bayer or older foveon technology

Also,if you go pro/fashion photography, you'll see you can't trust the Merrill colours especially on yellows. I had numerous problems with the Merrill line on field because of that. I always asked models to wear neutral colours clothes for our shoots. In B&W it is very good, in the other hand.

For color, a simple ol' D700/5D is far superior (to stay in the same actual price range).

That is a very lovely portrait. Well done.

I've used the DP3M once or twice for humans. The problem is that if they do not have a good moisturising regimen it really shows at 100%
